143 Preakness Stakes Betting Picks & Preview

The second leg of the Triple Crown in the world of horse racing takes place this weekend. The 143rd Preakness Stakes will take place at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland. This will be 9.5 furlongs on dirt. The Preakness dates back all the way to 1873. This will be the 143rd running of the Preakness. Let's take a look at the best odds to win the event:

Justify -250

Mike E. Smith, his horse, and his company have been on a roll. He has achieved four first place finishes since February, amassing over $2M during that time. This is clearly the best horse in the race. Make sure he starts well and Justify is in real good shape to win this race.

Good Magic +300

Good Magic is a great horse, but he's going to be out-manned in this race. Good Magic has been inside the Top 3 in each of his last 5 events. Jose Ortiz is one of the best in the business, but this horse will come up just short for the second time this month. Look for Good Magic to show, but winning seems to be a long shot.

Bolt D'oro +800

I like this horse. I like this horse a lot. Victor Espinoza has this one ready to go, but the same have been said about Churchill Downs. A 12th place finish was not was expected. So, it's hard to put your hard earned money down on a horse that just did not compete with the big dogs last time. This is a long shot as well.

Quip +900

Jockey Florent Geroux will ride Quip competitively for just the sixth time. This horse did not compete at Churchill Downs. Quip has three career first place in 5 tries. Without a ton of knowledge, this is the type of horse to put some money down and enjoy the +900 odds. Outside of Justify, this is the only other horse I am putting money on to win it.

Other Odds:

Diamond King +1200
Bravazo +1400
Givemeaminit +2400
Noble Indy +3000

We are taking Justify to win this race. This seems like a favorable set up for him. One thing to remember is that there won't be nearly as many horses in this race as their was in the Kentucky Derby. The second race gets completed, which means leg #3 will have even more pressure. It should be fun following the progress of Justify over the next couple months. Justify has odds of +140 to win the Triple Crown and -185 for no triple crown winner.

There is a look at the odds to win the 2018 Kentucky Derby. Enjoy the race, and as always - good luck with your betting. We are excited to see if Justify can get the job done and win leg #2!
