Grammy Awards 2010 Odds and Predictions

This year’s Grammy awards will feature a 3-D postmortem appearance by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. The CBS show will honor Jackson with a short 3-D film set to his “Earth Song” that was to be part of his this is it tour. Amazing, but you know what else is amazing? BetUS.com offers Gammy Awards Odds and betting on all of the top awards. Here are the odds and my predictions for each.

Record of the Year

  • I Gotta Feeling - The Black Eyed Peas 9/2
  • You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift 8/5
  • Halo - Beyonce 3/2
  • Use Somebody - Kings of Leon 3/1
  • Poker Face - Lady GaGa 6/1

In the record of the year category, I feel we will have a repeat upset as we saw at the MTV Video Music Awards. Taylor Swift will edge out Beyonce, mainly because her team submitted “Single ladies” in this category last year. Halo is no Single Ladies. I Gotta Feeling has a good chance here but still I’m putting my money behind Swift.

Album of the Year

  • I Am Sasha Fierce - Beyonce 2/1
  • The E N D - The Black Eyed Peas 5/2
  • Fearless - Taylor Swift 5/4
  • The Fame - Lady GaGa 6/1
  • Big Whiskey &The Groogrux King- Dave Matthews Band 7/1

All of the nominations are great Albums but I like the long shot here, the Dave Matthews Band to steal this one, they are a veteran band and that could sway the Grammy voters. I would compare it to Steely Dan’s upset over Eminem in 2000.

Best New Artist Moneyline

  • MGMT 27/20
  • Keri Hilson 8/5
  • The Ting Tings 9/2
  • Zac Brown Band 5/1
  • Silversun Pickups 10/1

Keri Hilson will win this one but she is all hook, her songs are catchy, I mean stay in your head until you want to hit yourself with a hammer catchy but it doesn’t make her the Best New Artist. This is a less than inspiring group of nominees; I don’t see any of these nominees being around in five years. Maybe the Zac Brown Band but that’s a stretch.

Best Rock Song

  • Use Somebody - Kings of Leon 2/5
  • I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight - U2 5/1
  • Working On A Dream - Bruce Springsteen 6/1
  • The Fixer - Pearl Jam 7/1
  • 21 Guns - Green Day 8/1

I like The Fixer by Pearl Jam, it’s their best song in years but the Kings of Leon’s Use Somebody was an across the board smash hit, it will sway the non-rock Grammy voters and a travesty of justice will occur. If you want a long shot with a shot, you can bet a few bucks on Bruce Springsteen, the Boss is always popular with the voters and Working on a Dream is a fantastic song.

Song of the Year

  • You Belong With Me - Taylor Swift 3/2
  • Single Ladies(Put a ring on it) - Beyonce 2/1
  • Use Somebody - Kings of Leon 13/4
  • Poker Face - Lady GaGa 4/1
  • Pretty Wings - Maxwell 8/1

This is a ridiculous category to make a selection, you have the pop songs you can’t get out of your head. The tween targeted country girl, the gritty rock group and the smooth sounds of Maxwell. My vote would go to Maxwell but I would put my money behind Beyonce here.
