First time on the turf for trainer Julio Canini means a victory 19% of the time. That’s not great, but it’s not bad either. The best thing about this filly is that she’s had 2 victories 1 second and 1 third out of 7 lifetime starts. Her breeding is impeccable and there’s no doubt that she should take to the lawn. But, of course, that’s not the only thing to like. She’s a terrific online wager in this situation because she can stalk or come from the clouds in a race with a lot of speed.

Sensational Love - - fair odds 6/1

Speed ratings are on the slowish side, but check out who trains her - - Neil Drdysdale. Drysdale is one of the best trainers in the world when it comes to the turf and this gal is out of War Chant who Drysdale trained to a victory in the Breeders’ Cup Mile around five years ago. This gal has every right to improve off of her okay East Coast turf form. At what figures to be nice online wagering odds, because of her slow speed ratings, she’s worth a very long look.

Storm Mesa - - fair odds 5/1

Yes, there is other speed in this race. Yes, front-runners haven’t been doing all that well on the Del Mar lawn this past week. Yes, this will be her first time on the turf, but, man, she’s awfully fast! There’s a reason that Louisiana trainer William Bret Calhoun sends her all the way to San Diego for this race. I mean, he has to have a plan in mind, right? In any case, expect fair online odds because she will have to lead them gate to wire in this affair.

The truth is that I like both Sensational Love and Seattle Smooth. I will most likely play exotics in this race by keying Sensational Love and Seattle Smooth in exactas and trifectas. I will use all three horses in a Pick-3 starting in Race 7.
