Weekend Stakes Action - Grade I Test & Grade II Clement L. Hirsch
by BetUS Staff
The biggest news for online racebook fans is that Monmouth Park, by at least 10 lengths.
I’m not even thinking about that race. BetUS online sportsbook fans won’t make any money on the Haskell Invitational this weekend. Monmouth Park is a speed biased racetrack that should be perfect for Big Brown. I much prefer to try to beat the favorites in two other huge stakes races this weekend.
Let’s get to it!
Saratoga Racecourse – Race 10
Grade I Test Stakes
$250,000
For Fillies Three-Years Old and Up
7 furlongs on the dirt
Indian Blessing will be the chalk in this race, but I can’t recommend because as good as she looked in her last race, she will have to step it up once again to beat this field. I like the looks of the Larry Jones trained Sweet Hope. For online betting fans, Sweet Hope could provide positive dividends on top of any exacta and trifecta plays. She was spectacular in her last race, a minor stakes at Delaware Park, and even though she is a front-runner, she no doubt could lead this field wire to wire. For second, Indian Blessing is the play. She is 3/5 on the morning line, but I don’t see another filly in this race challenging Indian Blessing besides Sweet Hope. Hope can beat her to the wire but nobody beats Indian Blessing for second. For third Palanka City looks like a good play. Barclay Tagg is deadly off the claim and Palanka City won’t be too far off of Sweet Hope in this race. If Tagg moves her up, a top three finish is not out of the question.
1. Sweet Hope
2. Indian Blessing
3. Palanka City
Del Mar Racetrack – Race 9
Grade II Clement L. Hirsch
$300,000
For Fillies and Mares Three-Years Old and Up
1 1/16th miles on Polytrack
Will the great Zenyatta stay undefeated? Probably but she’s never run over Polytrack before which means, as an online wagering fan who loves to take a risk, I’m going to try and beat her. How about West Coast Swing trying the Del Mar Polytrack for the first time? West Coast Swing was fantastic over the Arlington Polytrack. Why not take a stab with this miss trained by Shannon Ritter? Out of five lifetime starts West Coast Swing has four wins and a second. That’s plenty good in my book. I expect her to give Zenyatta all that the super filly can handle. Zenyatta is the play for second. Her odds are going to be ridiculously low, but in all honesty she’s the best horse in this race. For third Romance Is Diane is the play. She needs to relax better on the front end but her ability to get the lead means that she can last a long way.
1. West Coast Swing
2. Zenyatta
3. Romance is Diane
Good luck!
