Reggie Bush’s Good Luck Charm
by Tim Furious

Just like A-Rod did in the World Series with Kate Hudson, Super Bowl odds and boost the Saints to a victory. If the Super Bowl prop bets tell you anything, the oddsmakers aren’t expecting much out of Reggie. Bush and the Saints will need all the good luck charms they can get to clear the hurdles set by the prop makers.
Reggie’s rushing yard TOTAL has been set at 36.5 yards, with the OVER being the favored bet at -125. Considering he averaged 26.0 rushing yards per game this season, you can see why this Super Bowl prop is so low. Most notably the oddsmakers are also suggesting that Reggie Bush won’t score a touchdown in Miami on Sunday giving him -170 odds to be kept out of the endzone and +130 odds to score. The prop bettors are gushing over this bet because Reggie can rush, receive and return, a triple threat that could earn you serious bang for your buck at the Super Bowl.

At 6-foot-0 and 203 pounds with blinding breakaway speed, Bush has the natural talent to be a Pro Bowler, but he hasn’t lived up to the much hyped expectations thrust upon his shoulders. The former USC Trojan has come in to his own this season as an effective utility weapon but the presence of Pierre Thomas and the acquisition of Mike Bell forced Bush to register the worst numbers in his career. With just 390 yards rushing and 335 yards receiving, and just 8 touchdowns to his name in 2009, Bush will hope that Kim can provide the same boost in the post season that Kate gave A-Rod.
Whether he can live up to the hype for once, on the grandest stage of them all, remains to be seen but if Reggie was waiting for any time in his career to beat the odds, then Super Bowl XLIV is the right place to do it.
