England Premier League Weekend Recap: Who was hot, who was not!
by Nila Amerova

It was a busy weekend in soccer betting as the English Premier League served up a full menu of fixtures and, boy oh boy, were there some surprising results after all was said and done. Most notably, Manchester United were thwarted and this after their sensational performance against AC Milan in Champions League when they were looking unbelievably hot; had everyone believing they would carry the momentum back to England they did. Meanwhile Man City and Liverpool continued their inconsistent form and whereas Portsmouth continued their poor form as well (what is new, I know), West Ham United persisted on their climb out of the danger zone with another crucial win at the weekend.
Here is the low down of some of the highlights
Everton 3 - 1 Manchester United
Man U couldn’t have needed the win more as they were leading the Premier League with 60 points, two points clear of Chelsea FC, ahead of their Everton clash and could have used an additional three points to break away from the Blues in the table. Missed opportunity indeed for Sir Fergusson and his men, I’ll say.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 0 - 2 Chelsea
Carlo Ancelotti and Co. graciously accepted the chance Man U laid on the table, as they made no mistakes against Wolverhampton Wolves, taking the 2:0 win and the three points with it to reclaim top spot in the table. They are only a point clear of Man U at 61 points going into next weekend’s action.
Arsenal 2 - 0 Sunderland
The Gunners don’t miss a beat often do they and they certainly didn’t against Sunderland at the Emirates on Saturday, blanking out the Black Cats to take all three points and keep the pressure on the top duo of Man U and Chelsea. Arsenal are at 58 points, three points shy of top of the table Chelsea. They are where they want to be and they are still in the race for the title.
West Ham United 3 - 0 Hull City
Zola and Co. continued on good form last weekend to take down Hull City 3:0. West Ham United who were down in the mud only a month or so ago are now 13th in the table and on a conspicuous upward trend. They will have to continue this trend for it is only a four-point drop back into the abyss.
Portsmouth 1 - 2 Stoke City
Portsmouth are so far behind they are for all intended purposes out of the Premier League discussion. Relegation is an almost certainty for them as they are sitting rock bottom, on ten points after 27 cycles in the league. That they lost to Stoke City 2:1 is hardly surprising, par for the course if you ask me. Stoke City accepted all three points for a tally of 34 points and an 11th spot in the table.
Sunday action featured bigwig pretenders Man City, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa in action as well as surprisingly good Birmingham City and Blackburn Rovers. Ma City faced off against Liverpool and the outcome was a scoreless draw – the mark left both outfits outside of the top four. Aston Villa picked up three easy points against Burnley at Villa Park. Burnley are the worst outfit on the road with only one point to show for their 14 away matches. Meanwhile, Fulham dealt Birmingham City a rare loss when they beat them 2-1 and Blackburn Rovers took the win over Bolton Wanderers.
