Soccer Betting Tips: Arsenal vs. Liverpool

Bookmark and Share by Nila Amerova

Midweek Premier League action kick-off is fast approaching with Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal side gearing up to take on Rafa Benitez’s Liverpool. Arsenal go into the match significantly favoured over Liverpool in the market.

Arsenal, by all accounts, were enjoying a solid season. Liverpool were not up to their usual lofty standards. That has changed somewhat. Recently, the Gunners have slipped in form, and in ranking. They are virtually out of the title after losing to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. While the Merseyside have picked up pace.

They are only separated by five points in the table: Arsenal is in third place on 49 points and Liverpool in fourth place on 44 points. Three points in this match will be crucial for both outfits. Might not this match be tighter than the soccer betting line would suggest?

Soccer Betting Verdict: Liverpool have turned things around, so it seems. They are riding a five-match winning streak at home and they remain undefeated in their last six matches. Spirits in their locker room are much higher than they were a month ago and confidence in the man at the helm, Rafa Benitez is reappearing. Liverpool fans should be delighted about their recent form and as such, they will like the odds that are trading right now for the outright win. Listed at +300 to win outright, the market is not backing Liverpool for the win but if you believe in your Reds..... I’ll say this, if the Reds continue on this trend, you won’t be seeing such generous odds on them for much longer. Perhaps get in while you can before equilibrium is returned.

Importantly, Liverpool haven’t conceded a goal in their last four matches. They are defending well and that should cause problems for Arsene’s men, who might be a little down in the mud after losing back-to-back matches against Man U and Chelsea. For this, I am liking a low scoring affair. Under 2.5 goals at -130. The market favours this outcome as well.

To return to those clashes Arsenal lost, they were important because a win over either or both would have underlined Arsenal‘s title aspirations. As it stands, it is hard not to notice these losses and weigh in on them and the sides chances in the season proper.

Having said that Arsenal to win at -105 are still a good bet and soccer fans could do no worse than backing the Gunners over Liverpool.

The way Liverpool have been playing lately tells me there won’t be many chances in this match so if the Gunners are going to win they will have to be spot on at every turn before Reina. As I said earlier, this has all the makings of a nervous tight affair and as such I would lay a risk on Liverpool to cover the spread at + ½ -115.

Ultimately, the tone of the match will be set by which side scores. If Liverpool get on the board first, trading at a tempting +120, the game will open up quicker than you can say pop. Arsenal will be forced to attack more. If Arsenal get on the board first, favoured to do so at -160, Benitez will have his men defending in numbers and selectively looking for opportunities to poach.
