World Cup Betting: Group F Odds and Predictions

At the onset of the last round of match-ups in Group F, Brazil, leading the group with six points, is already through to the next round, needing only a draw against Japan to lock down first place.

By far the favorites in this match-up, Brazil opens on the money line at (-500). A no brainer, Brazil should come up with the win easily in this match-up, and should want to do so, if not just to silence the naysayer’s who have been quick to refer to their performance thus far in the World Cup as uninspiring.

Japan, decidedly the underdog opening at (+1000) on the money line, has a big mountain to climb. They not only need a win to salvage their World Cup campaign, but they would need to soundly beat Brazil and improve their current goal difference to overhaul either Australia or Croatia if they end up tied on four points. Clearly the odds are against Japan, and save for Brazil somehow completely bungling their final match-up in the Group stage, the realistic expectation for Japan would be to play for the one point draw opening at (+400), thereby ending their World Cup sojourn on a respectable performance against the defending World Cup champions. Indeed, a high note.

For Australia, currently sitting in second place with three points a one point draw, opening at (+200) against Croatia would be sufficient to book their place in the Round of 16. Provided, of course, that Japan does not succeed in achieving the unthinkable – soundly beating Brazil and improving their goal differential to disrupt Australia’s World Cup ambitions. In addition with Croatia, opening on the money line at (+125), needing only a win against Australia to leapfrog into second place, it seems likely that this match could be the match to decide the runner-up of Group F.

As the final countdown sounds for the Group stage of the World Cup, surprises and upsets have not had their complete say and may still figure in the outcome of who advances to the next round.
