Champions League Betting Group E: Debreceni vs. Liverpool
by Nila Amerova

Liverpool are in danger of being eliminated from Champions League action. They head into match day 5 against Hungarian outfit Debrecen looking for a win and needing all the help they can get from Olympique Lyonnais – ideally, they would like the French to beat the Italian outfit ACF Fiorentina to hand Liverpool a lifeline. Meanwhile, Debreceni have drawn blank in four matches and are still in search of their first few Champions League points. Their Champions League debut has been a right disappointment and they have very little to hope for in the last two matches.

Online Soccer Betting Verdict: This match is a must-win for Rafa Benitez and Co. They are currently, third in Champions League on 4 points, five points shy of second place Fiorentina and six points shy of Lyon.
The Reds are hoping for a miracle in this upcoming fixture and their next. It would not be the first time divine intervention played a hand. One need only to recall Istanbul, when they came back against all the odds to beat AC Milan in the Champions League title match.
Debrecen did well to qualify for Champions League and deserve mad props for the accomplishment but they are clearly out of their league; at least, right now. They have not managed a single point in four matches. The problem probably lies with their backline that has allowed 14 goals in four matches!
Rafa Benitez should have Stephen Gerrard back in the line up – he played a full 90 minutes last week for the first time in over a month. He also should have Fernando Torres back on the bench as well. These two star players have been known to make a difference on the pitch and their return could not have been more dramatically timed, the Reds need them to be that difference against Debrecen.
