I can't believe how good Andre Agassi looked in the second half of his match with fellow American James Blake. I bet on Andre and so I was happy for a monetary reason. But, I was also happy because I grew up idolizing the guy when I played tennis as a youngster.
Andre Agassi used to be a flamboyant player, a sort of rock star in a world of stiffs. He had the endorsements and the millions of fans/haters around the world.
Then, he went bald and decided to revamp his image. Today he's one of the gentlemen of the sport, a veteran who is revered and thought of as one of the true legends in the game of tennis. Andre is one of five players ever who have won all four Grand Slam events at least once.

Fast forward to last night and he is down two sets to nothing to fellow American James Blake, a darling of this tournament and a good player in his own right. Just as the commentators were getting ready to read Agassi's career the last rites, he stormed back and took three straight sets to move on to the Semi-Finals of the US Open. Andre Agassi finished? I think not.
Now, should we bet on him versus Ginepri in the Semis? Absolutely! His fitness level is high, his level of play excellent and his experience unmatched. I look for Andre Agassi to make the finals and lose in straight sets to Roger Federer. Hey, I said he was a good player, I never said he was the best in the game today.
