Capitala World Tennis Championship Tournament Predictions
by Nila Amerova

With the ATP World Tour season all set to get underway on Sunday, the Capitala World Tennis Championship Tournament is a prime opportunity for tennis bettors to flex their tennis betting muscles just in time for the big kick-off in the first week of the New Year. Five top ten players are amongst the six invited to compete over the three days of the Abu Dhabi championship. They are Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Nikolay Davydenko, Robin Soderling, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Stansilas Wawrinka.
With action all set to get underway on New Year’s Eve, here is a look at the roster for Friday complete with BetUS tennis betting odds (what’d ya think? Of course, we are bringing the action to you!) and tennis free picks.
Tennis Betting Line : Jo Wilfried Tsonga +150 Nikolay Davydenko -200
Match Time: 06:00 A.M. Eastern Time Thursday December 31, 2009
Tennis Betting Verdict: Davydenko finished the 2009 season as the player to beat after winning the prestigious Barclay’s ATP World Tour Finals crown. Davydenko was simply devastating, not only in London but also in the last few months leading up to London. He won titles in Hamburg, Umag, Malaysia and Shanghai before capping his season with the title in London. That Davydenko missed almost the first three months of last season and managed to qualify for London on the strength of a reduced term is simply incredible. And he did it in style, closing the term 57-17 with five titles.
Davydenko takes a perfect 2-0 mark against Tsonga into their friendly match on Friday – well, not so much friendly as a title and prize monies are on the line if not any ATP points. Tsonga, the world No.10, finished last season with three titles and a 53-20 mark. He had by his standards a good season but not a great one.
Going on their respective 2009 seasons one has to give the edge in this match to Davydenko. He is therefore the pick to win outright, and tennis bettors can find him listed at -200 at BetUS Sportsbook.
Tennis Free Picks: Davydenko in straight sets
Tennis Betting Line : Robin Soderling -275 Stanislas Wawrinka +190
Match Time: 08:00 A.M. Eastern Time Thursday December 31, 2009
Tennis Betting Verdict: Robin Soderling finished the 2009 term, 49-21 with one title. His year, however, was most memorable for his momentous win over Nadal at the French Open and for reaching the ATP World Tour Finals semis as an alternate. Soderling heads into the 2010 season as a player to watch, full of confidence and swagger.
Soderling takes a 1-1 mark against Wawrinka into their Friday encounter. The last time they met was in 2008 at the ATP Masters Miami. Soderling beat Wawrinka at the time in three sets 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Though Soderling owns the more recent win it is not because of that he is favoured to win this match but rather on the strength of his last season. Wawrinka, on the other hand, was a flop in 2009, in my humble opinion. He fell out of the top 20 to No.21 and finished the year an abysmal 31-20. There is little indication yet that he is set to turn things around so Soderling has to be the pick in this match.
Tennis Free Picks: Soderling in straight sets
