SAP OPEN BETTING TIPS: Roddick aims for Quarters

San Jose, California – American top seed Andy Roddick is gearing up for his second round encounter against Leonardo Mayer of Argentine, keeping a quarterfinal appointment pre-tournament predictions had him slotted him for at the back of his mind.

Roddick is not only expected to make the quarterfinal date but also the semi-final and final dates. A three-time SAP Open champion, he is gunning for his fourth title in San Jose. Clearly, this is his stomping ground and he is America’s best hope for victory.

You would think that sort of pressure has a pied a terre somewhere between Andy’s ears. Roddick has looked nothing but at ease in San Jose and until he comes across a player that can threaten him on court, he is going to continue to look confident. Significantly, the market is going to be confident he is a sure thing. As he is, in his upcoming encounter against Mayer.

Leonardo Mayer has never met Andy Roddick at an ATP main draw event, or for that matter at a lower circuit event. The world No. 76 Mayer is just another ordinary rival and unless he can prove otherwise, he will remain so.

Tennis Betting Line:

Leonardo Mayer +5 -155 +800 20 O -150 U +110

First Set Line:

Andy Roddick -1000 Leonardo Mayer +500

Tennis Betting Verdict: The tennis betting trend will side with Andy Roddick in this match and at -2000 odds, punters can be confident he is as good as a lock bet is going to get. Such confidence comes with a downside. The investment-to-return ratio is minimal, almost not worth the bet. Roddick backers will find better angles for profit betting on Roddick’s performance in this match.

Roddick to cover the spread at -5 +115 is interestingly not the favoured outcome but I think it is a good play. Mayer has serious skills and the opinion is that he will account well against Roddick, hence his odds to cover the spread are the favoured outcome, listed at +5 -155. It would be great if Mayer would make a match of it but I think with home edge and the crowd fully behind him Roddick will put on a clinical serving display to convincingly send Mayer packing.

For this reason, I also like the Under 20 at +110. Once again, the market is leaning towards the Over 20 at -150.
