MONTE CARLO, MonacoThe final round of the Monte Carlo Masters Series on Sunday April 22nd played out according to expectations. Two-time defending champion, Rafael Nadal claimed his third consecutive Monte Carlo Masters Series title, becoming the first player since Ilie Nastase in 1971-1973, to win three consecutive titles at the Monte Carlo Masters Series.

In a rematch of the 2006 Monte Carlo Masters Series final, No. 2 Rafael Nadal defeated No.1 Roger Federer in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. Extending his winning streak to 67 on clay, Nadal has not lost a clay court match since April 8, 2005, in the quarterfinals of Valencia to Igor Andreev.

What was largely considered a precursor to the odds on the French Open, the tennis world watched as Federer faced Nadal in the much-anticipated final showdown.

Nadal, a -190 favorite on his best surface, proved too great for Federer, listed at +140 odds.

Owing to yesterday’s victory, Nadal improved his lifetime record to 7-3 against Federer, which includes all five clay court meetings between the two. With Rome and the Roland Garros French Open just around the corner, it remains to be seen whether Federer, given another opportunity, can defeat Rafael Nadal on clay.

The French Open Futures at BetUS.com sportsbook list Federer at +110 to win outright, while Nadal is listed at  +125.

This week on the ATP tour, Rafael Nadal, along with No. 4 Nikolay Davydenko, No. 5 Tommy Robredo, No. 26 Marat Safin, amongst others, head to Barcelona. As Nadal arrives in Barcelona with a 67 clay-match winning streak on the line, look for the odds on Nadal at the 2007 Open Seat Barcelona with BetUS.com sportsbook as he sets to defend yet another clay court title.

In addition to the 2007 Open Seat, BetUS.com sportsbook has released odds for the Grand Prix Hassan II in Casablanca, Morocco, where Marc Giquel, Gilles Simon and Nicolas Massu, to name a few, are set to take centre court.
