Roddick Once Again under the New York Lights
by BetUS Staff

Flushing Meadow, New York – I have to admit that I believed tennis bettors is indeed proving to be a contender.
Now while Roddick has indeed been impressive, particularly against Ernests Gulbis and Andreas Seppi in the R64 and R32 respectively, I am not sure I am prepared to jump on the A-Rod bandwagon. Next up for American, hopeful Andy Roddick is a tricky opponent in BetUS Sportsbook.
Here is a look at how this exciting match in the last 16 at the US Open.
Tennis Betting Line:
Andy Roddick -4 -110 -220 40½ O -115 U -125
Fernando Gonzalez +4 -130 +170 40½ O -115 U -125
Match Time: 08:15 PM Eastern Time Tuesday September 2, 2008
Head-to-Head Analysis: Andy Roddick leads the series 7-3, having beaten Gonzalez most recently at the Tennis Masters Cup in 2007 6-1, 6-4. They have not met in 2008; the R16 match at the US Open is their first meeting this year.
Andy Roddick (-220) Hardly surprising that Roddick is the favourite coming into this match. H e has home court edge and leads the overall head-to-head series rather convincingly. Upon closer look, Roddick has the slightest edge over Gonzalez on hard: he leads 4-3.
Roddick arrived in New York with a 33-10 mark for the season and two ATP titles. He won the title in San Jose and Dubai. Since his last title victory in March, he has reached the final of one other event only – Los Angeles.
Wimbledon in the second round. Reaching the second week of the US Open has been his best Grand Slam performance this year. It salvages somewhat a disappointing season and an even worse US Open series.
Fernando Gonzalez (+170) Fernando Gonzalez has had a good season. He brings a 29-10 record for the year to New York that includes two ATP titles and the Olympic Silver medal. Gonzalez won his two titles earlier this year, in Vina del Mar and Munich. While both were clay court tournament triumphs, Gonzalez is a just as gifted on hard courts – if not better on the faster surface. Last year, he stunned everyone by reaching the Australian Open final (l. to Federer). In Beijing, he pushed to the final where he lost to Nadal on a surface not unlike the US Open hard courts.
Tennis Betting Verdict: This will be a sensational match, a delight to watch and a nerve-wracking bet to make. I expect both players to compete well against each other and go the distance. Roddick is the favourite those who believes Gonzalez has no chance does not know tennis at all. Gonzalez can crack winners from anywhere on the court and will prove to be Roddick’s toughest challenge yet. He is the money play and worth the risk.
Tennis Betting Pick: Gonzalez in five sets
