As the sun set on the Pattaya Women’s Open semifinal round, it was a day celebrated by the underdogs, as Gisela Dulko defeated favorite Sania Mirza, and Sybille Bammer overcame favorite Shuai Peng, giving me a perfect 2-0 record for my predictions on the semifinal round. Oh yeah!

Therefore, with the final match set up between Sybille Bammer and Giselle Dulko here is a look at the odds shaping up with BetUS.com and my predictions for the Tier IV Pattaya Women’s Open event.

Sybille Bammer -110 Gisela Dulko -130

Prediction: Sybille Bammer and Gisela Dulko meet on Sunday to vie for their first WTA title. Moreover, for Bammer, this is her first ever-final appearance. So how will these two fare?

Well, considering No. 52 Gisela Dulko holds a higher WTA rank than No. 61 Sybille Bammer, the line favors Gisela Dulko in this matchup. However, since Bammer and Dulko have never faced off against each other, there are no stats to suggest that Dulko’s favorite status is warranted other than by her ranking.

Gisela Dulko, at a price tag of -130, has some good value, arriving at the final as the favorite after being the underdog her last two matches. Seeded 6th in this tournament, Dulko upset 5th seed Sania Mirza in the semifinals 6-4, 7-5, owing her victory to her consistent groundstrokes and her ability to mix her game up to return Mirza’s powerful forehand.

On the other hand, unseeded Sybille Bammer advanced past No. 4 seed Shuai Peng in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, owing her victory to her powerful serve and a return game that had Peng on the run.

So how will Dulko and Bammer matchup? With both women, vying for their first WTA title, the pressure will be great. Dulko holds a slight advantage over Bammer as this is Bammer’s first final appearance, and considering that tennis is as much a game of the mind as a game on the court, if it comes down to nerves, Bammer may succumb to the pressure.

Should Bammer reign in her nerves and ride her winning streak, taking her serve and return game to Dulko, she has a chance to run Dulko effectively out of this match, giving her -110 price tag some value.

However, if Dulko keeps up with her groundstrokes and all court coverage, then she could prove to be too much for Bammer.

Pick: On the whole, this final matchup could go either way. Nevertheless, considering the odds, I like Dulko’s chances in this matchup. I pick Dulko to claim her first WTA title in two sets.

Results: Sybille Bammer (Austria) beat 6-Gisela Dulko (Argentina) 7-5 3-6 7-5
