Kimbo Slice is knocked out of the Ultimate Fighter
by Nick Meyer

It was Kimbo Slice’s big chance to finally prove himself to hardcore MMA fans across the United States, but in the end, the “big black buck with the greasy beard” as Rashad Evans called him didn’t have enough grappling skills to deal with Roy “Big Country” Nelson.
In what will surely be one of the highest-rated MMA telecasts of all-time if not the highest-rated, Slice was defeated by a second-round TKO by Nelson after being caught on the ground in a crucifix position by Nelson, who is one of the best heavyweight grapplers in the sport and one of the most experienced guys in the Ultimate Fighter house.
Slice got in a few of his usual big right-hand shots on Nelson during the course of the fight, including one in the second round that UFC President Dana White and Evans seemed to think left Nelson dazed a little bit, but Nelson stuck with his game plan and finished off the former Youtube star.
Nelson had said before the fight that he wouldn’t let pride get in the way and try to stand up with Kimbo if he wasn’t getting the better end of exchanges on the feet, and he stuck with that plan as he took Slice down in both the first and second rounds before securing top position.
Kimbo’s coach, Rampage Jackson, commented that it would be almost impossible for anyone to get Nelson’s “big ole belly” off of them once he established top position. Slice obviously didn’t have a chance as he is one of the least-skilled ground fighters in the house.
Nelson almost finished off Slice in the same position he ended the fight in as the first round wound down, but his punches didn’t land with much authority.
Now, Slice has to go back to the drawing board and figure out how to improve his ground skills.
And for those who placed a wager on him to win the show on BetUs.com, he might not be out of it yet, as he still has a good shot of getting back on due to a possible injury to former NFL player Marcus Jones, as hinted at on the promo for the next episode.
Regardless of whether or not Kimbo makes it back to the show, he has earned the respect of many new fans as he has shown himself to be humble and eager to learn on the show, the hallmarks of a true mixed martial artist.
But for now, Nelson marches on and continues to be seen as the favorite to win the show.
