UFC 94 - A Psycho in the Ring
by Ian James

Stephan “American Psycho” Bonnar (-175) vs. Jon “Bones” Jones (+135)
There is a buzz around the entire Silva/ Machida fight and the main event of the evening.
Bonnar has the edge in experience while Jones has youth and athleticism. They both know that this win could be the one that breaks them into the upper echelon of the light heavyweight class. Both men are American born and that just about covers the similarities between these guys. Bonnar is a veteran cage fighter that has proven he is a warrior by making it through the trenches taking grenades over the years. Jones, on the other hand, is a talented but young addition to the growing talent pool in the UFC. At just 21 years old, this will be just the second UFC fight for the kid and the first real chance for BetUS customers to get a good look at this young man.
If Jones wants a shot at becoming a number one contender he will have to either knock or choke Bonnar out cold as he will fight to the bitter end. Knowing that you’re going up against a guy that is so driven can be intimidating for a young fighter. I think the intimidation factor is going to be a factor and will be a mental block that Jones may not overcome.
Bonnar knows that this could be his last shot at a UFC belt and at 31, he may be the best he will ever be in this fight. This is something that he is aware of and this is that extra motivation going into the biggest fight of his career.
He will have to earn it as Jones is a very good wrestler and will likely try to take this fight to the ground and wear out the elder fighter. Since he is relatively new to the UFC, there isn’t a great scouting report on him and will be tough to train for. So while Bonnar may be worried that he’s going into the octagon with a fighter he knows little about, Jones is going in knowing full well that Bonnar is truly an “American Psycho”.
Bonnar is just to driven to let the chance of a lifetime slip by. Take Bonnar by decision in an all out war.
