UFC betting: Koscheck vs. Thiago

If there's one thing Josh Koscheck. Much to the delight of sports bettors, for the second time in a row, 'Kos,' will be appearing on free television as the UFC takes to the Spike TV airwaves on Saturday.

Dana White has chosen to treat another unfamiliar crowd with his thrilling fighter, after putting him in the ring for the Tribute to the Troops card. This time, Koscheck will display his skills in front of a bloodthirsty London crowd, who got their first taste of UFC betting action months ago when hometown boy Michael Bisping took on Chris Leben in a three-round slugfest. If they enjoyed that bout, they'll certainly enjoy anything Koscheck turns in, as he perpetually comes forward and never backs down.

Being thrown to the wolves is youngster Paulo Thiago from Brazil, who enters the contest with an undefeated record acquired in his homeland. Despite his relative UFC odds inexperience, he is a master practitioner of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and will challenge Koscheck's superb mat wrestling skills. Fighting mostly out of Jungle Fight over the past few years, he has racked up victories over Ferrid Kheder, Luiz Dutra Jr. and Carelli Carelli. Obviously, he has never faced anyone even remotely near Koscheck's speed, power and overall skill.

The key for Koscheck will be to keep the fight to a brawl, and use his new-found brawling skills to dominate the fight. As the number four welterweight on planet earth, he has a quite well-rounded game at this point in his career, and is seemingly well above competition such as Thiago. His brutal knockout of Yoshiyuki Yoshida kept him in the UFC lines ranks after contract disputes with head honcho Dana White regarding his appearance in the upcoming UFC video game. However, an amazing performance such as that was enough to convince White to back down and negotiate a new deal with 'Kos.'

MMA betting experts aren't giving Thiago much of a chance, and rightfully so. Koscheck has truly stepped up as an elite fighter, and this seems like nothing more than a cupcake fight before Koscheck gets another title shot, and another main event slot. Take Koscheck at -500 on the BetUS Sportsbook, even if it doesn't seem like much value.

The pick: Koscheck
