Paolo's Bio
Paolo stumbled into becoming a sports betting writer because he was writing a science fiction novel about fighting. So, he started watching UFC to learn. Sure enough, he fell in love with the sport and joined online groups. Instead of doing research, he started getting into it with the keyboard warriors. They did not enjoy being fact-checked and grammar-policed.
Eventually, he caught the attention of an MMA website owner who gave him a platform to write about the UFC: Vendetta Fighter. Together, they broke a few UFC news and Paolo got to live the dream: attend a UFC press conference and get called a “*bleeping* loser” by Dana White himself. True story.
Paolo then parlayed this knowledge and experience into more writing gigs from Sportsnet to Fansided. That’s just half the story.
Before Paolo became an MMA writer, he was a nerd turned casual bettor. Paolo had a knack for finding value in the NBA odds and NFL lines. It turns out that playing a lot of NBA 2K, obsessing about fantasy football, and knowing a little about statistics was a good background for betting.
One wintery afternoon in a dive bar, Paolo met a fellow freelance writer who gave him the keys to his first sports betting gig: Canada Sports Betting. Like being in his first UFC presser, Paolo could not believe the deal. But a Zoom call with the editor from France and he was off - pushing out articles with blistering speed and accuracy like Aroldis Chapman on the computer.
Now, Paolo shares his love for all things sports betting with BetUS, America’s favorite sportsbook. He’ll continue to share the UFC news, NFL picks, and stories knowing that, like his unconventional path, there is something unique in every match.
