2022 Boxing Rewind: Unleashing Fury
Looking back at Year’s Biggest Bouts
It was a great year for boxing, and although there were no megafights like we saw between Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder in 2021, there were plenty of highlights.
Most of the boxing betting favorites won the big fights, including Fury twice. However, most of the best action came in the lightweight division that features the likes of Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney.

Let’s check the latest Boxing picks, stats, and Boxing predictions. We’ve plenty of Boxing expert picks for you to consider.
Fury Rides Winning Streak
Fury started 2022 with a win over Dillian Whyte, which ended with a sixth-round knockout of the Brit.
It was never going to be a hard fight for the Gypsy King, especially having beaten powerhouse Wilder in consecutive fights. However, Whyte is a journeyman and there was a chance of a slip-up.
There was a lot of talk about who Fury’s next opponent would be, in particular Oleksandr Usyk. However, he ended up fighting Derek Chisora in December, which was another solid outing.
We’re not sure if he showed the same level of ability as Usyk did with his win over Anthony Joshua to win the WBO, IBF, and WBA heavyweight titles, but Fury still had an incredible year.

Davis, Haney Show Up
Two of the best lightweights, Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney, showed their skills in 2022.
Davis won in May against Rolando Romero with a sixth-round stoppage. He won the WBA lightweight title, which put him on the map as one of the best lightweights in the sport.
However, Haney may have outdone him with two calendar wins. The first came against George Kambosos Jr. in June, when becoming the first undisputed lightweight champion in 32 years.
The talented American, who was favored at the sportsbook to win the rematch against Kambosos, did just that in October. He won by unanimous decision after a brave performance from the Australian.
It’s only a matter of time before Davis and Haney meet for all of the titles, which gives bettors something to look forward to in 2023.
A guest at a recent press conference suggested Haney’s biggest threat is Davis.
“How you gonna keep me off of you when you ain’t got no power?” Davis asked. “Let’s talk about that: How you gonna keep me off of you if you ain’t got no power?
“That’s the only person that could beat me, Gervonta Davis. That’s the only person. Them [expletives] cannot touch me, at all. They all been in the ring with me, and I cracked both of ‘em! I cracked both of ‘em.”
Taylor, Shields Above the Rest
October was a big month for women’s boxing, namely Claressa Shields and Katie Taylor.
Shields defeated Savannah Marshall to win the WBC, WBC, IBF, and WBO middleweight titles and she has the world at her feet.
It was her second win of the year, so she was the standout female fighter of 2022.
Taylor made her case for that honor by beating Amanda Serrano and Karen Carbajal. Her most recent win secured the WBA, IBF, WBO, and WBC lightweight titles in London, which got the crowd roaring.
Taylor and Shields are dominant fighters and 2022 was their year to shine.
YouTube Boxing Stars
Love it or hate it, YouTube Boxing is here to stay and it’s more entertaining than it used to be.
What started with KSI fighting Joe Weller has now turned into a fully-fledged business and 2022 was a big year. KSI defeated two opponents in one night, Jake Paul proved too good for retired MMA fighters and Deji faced Floyd Mayweather Jr.
Betting online markets are available for the major YouTube fights and they continue to smash box-office records.
The ultimate fight is KSI vs Jake Paul, which is in the works, and if 2022 is anything to go by, it’s only going to grow.
