Petchmanee CP Freshmart and Wanheng Menayothin embark on their rematch to decide the WBC Minimum Title on Tuesday.
Freshmart, whose birth name is Panya Pradabsri, won the first meeting 115-113 across all three judges’ scorecards.
Boxing betting markets are having a tough time splitting the Thai boxers, in what should be another thrilling contest.
Freshmart Ready for Rematch
There are calls for Petchmanee CP Freshmart to be on the pound-for-pound list after improving to 37-1.
His winning run continued with a one-punch knockout win over Pattharapong Rueangsilanon in 2021, which was a wild fight.
The ref didn’t quite know the rules of the game, which made for entertaining and laughable boxing, but it took nothing away from the performance of Freshmart.
The 31-year-old solidified his ranking as the best minimum fighter in the world. He might be small, but he packs a punch and he showed his class when beating Menayothin by a unanimous decision in 2020.
It was one of the best fights in Thai boxing history. Freshmart edged his opponent, which ended Menayothin’s winning run at 54 fights.
The 5’4” boxer deserves the accolades and the sportsbook has him favored to defend his title.
He wasn’t able to score a knockout win in his most recent fight last November, but with 23 knockout wins from 38 fights, he has the explosive power to potentially end Menayothin’s career.
Can Menayothin Bounce Back?
It took 55 fights for Wanheng Menayothin to suffer his first defeat, so being able to bounce back would be a credit to his professionalism.
The 36-year-old was being talked about in the same vein as Floyd Mayweather after improving to 55-0, and although he wasn’t fighting the same level of fighters, he demands respect.
He didn’t do much wrong when losing to Freshmart, so bettors shouldn’t lose confidence in the former champion.
It was a title he held since 2015 and he lost narrowly on the judges’ scorecards. He has since bounced back with a knockout win over a 2-3 fighter, as reported by BoxingScene, which was a warm-up for his redemption fight.
He’s now the second-best minimum fighter in the world and he’d love to get his title back. At his age, it could be his last chance at a title.
A loss would all but end the glittering career of Menayothin, so, he demands respect with betting online markets.
We wouldn’t be surprised to see another closely-fought battle where the victor outscores his opponent narrowly.
