Mielnicki vs DeLomba: Jersey, Stand Up!
Hometown boy Vito Mielnicki Jr. (9-1-0, six KOs) gets to thrill his fans on Christmas as he takes on Nicholas DeLomba (16-3-0, 5 KOs), who couldn’t be a better matchup for him. Mielnicki suffered his first pro loss against James Martin but has since rebounded with a second-round starching of Noah Kidd.
Premier Boxing Champions is not wasting time building the 19-year-old Mielnicki back up as DeLomba is fighting up a division and does not have the power to threaten Mielnicki. Anything short of a dominant win for Mielnicki would be a disappointment.
DeLomba Being Set Up to Get KO’d
With a nickname of “Nice Nick”, DeLomba is being paid to make PBC’s growing cash cow. DeLomba is 31, has been inactive for almost two years and has a non-threatening 31 percent knockout rate. But, he is tough. All of this makes him an ideal jobber.
Still, DeLomba is still here to win. He has a slight reach advantage and can fight Mielnicki from the outside. DeLomba has also put together some solid wins against the likes of Chris Singleton, Louis Cruiz and Amos Cowart. The three have a combined winning percentage of 77.3.
The orthodox boxer has the experience edge over his younger counterpart. However, his losses against Richardson Hitchins and Jimmy Williams, two unbeaten prospects, indicate he has a low ceiling. As long as he’s unable to earn Mielnicki’s respect, he may find himself as nothing more than a glorified punching bag.
Mielnicki to Thrill Hometown Crowd
Returning to his backyard, Mielnicki can follow his scintillating KO over Kidd with another impressive win. While DeLomba is tough, Mielnicki can overwhelm him and eventually get him out of there. Either way, Mielnicki has plenty of runways here, hence why his online sports betting line is steep.
“This is a dream come true for me,” Mielnicki said. “There’s no other way I’d rather spend Christmas. I’m living the dream at 19 years old. I can’t wait to perform in front of a huge audience on FOX.”
Nicknamed “white magic”, Mielnicki already has the makings of being one of boxing’s most fun fighters in the mold of an Arturo Gatti or Sergio Martinez. While he has a long way to go to hit the status of these all-time greats, Mielnicki already has the mindset.
“This is my toughest opponent to date, and I’m expecting a tough fight,” Mielnicki said. “You don’t want to miss this one, because we’re definitely delivering fireworks.”
In front of potentially millions of viewers, Mielnicki can boost his stock tenfold with a thrilling win over DeLomba. Bet online for him to do it.
