WBO World Middleweight Title at Stake
Alimkhanuly Favored Heavily to Win
Boxing odds tonight have Zhanibek Alimkhanuly as the -3000 favorite to beat Steven Butler for the WBO world middleweight title on Saturday.
The sportsbook hasn’t taken much backing for Butler at +1000, and it could be a simple case of being outclassed.

An unbeaten streak is on the line in Stockton, Calif., so it’s an interesting title bout.
Unbeaten Record at Stake
Boxing betting lines might have Alimkhanuly at skinny odds, but that doesn’t mean his job is done.
He secured the interim world title by delivering a second-round knockout to Danny Dignum, and followed it up with a unanimous decision victory over Denzel Bentley.
Although the fight was competitive, Alimkhanuly maintained the upper hand throughout, making it a challenging task for Bentley to secure a victory on points.
While he has received flak for taking easy fights on occasion, Alimkhanuly has relished his role as champion and prioritizes winning above all else.
“There are many boxers in the world who want to become world champion,” Alimkhanuly said. “Everyone works hard and trains hard but not everyone manages to become a champion. I am glad that I am one of those who became a champion. Being a champion is really cool.
“Now I am a different boxer. I already feel it. We have changed the training process. I am currently working with very educated conditioning trainers.”
Boxing Live betting markets could firm his odds to around -5000 if he gets off to a fast start against Butler. If Butler doesn’t land a big punch early, we can’t see him winning in the later rounds.
Confidence There with Butler
If we were in Butler’s shoes, we would look at the boxing odds as motivation to prove people wrong on Saturday night.
While Butler boasts an impressive record of 32 wins, three losses and one draw, it’s worth noting that he has largely faced lower-caliber boxers throughout his career.
However, despite his criticisms of boxers who protect their records, Butler deserves credit for putting his own record on the line. He did so in 2019, challenging Ryota Murata for the WBA world middleweight title, but was ultimately knocked out in the fifth round.
The Canadian fighter suffered another fifth-round stoppage loss to Jose de Jesus Macias, but has since rallied with a four-fight winning streak, including two wins by TKO.
However, his most recent victory over Joshua Conley, which went to the judges’ scorecards, raised concerns as it was a close fight against an opponent who is not highly regarded. With this upcoming bout, Butler faces a significant step up in class.
“Before my losses to Murata and Macias, I felt like nobody can beat me. I felt my power was too strong and you’re young and undefeated and can knock everybody out,” Butler said.
Online gambling markets don’t give him much of a chance, but he has a chance.
