Ayala vs Yabuki Boxing Predictions, Bet Yabuki For the Knockout, March 29
Champion Masamichi Yabuki During the 2nd Round of the Wbc Light Fly | Naoya Masuda / the Yomiuri Shimbun via Afp

Masamichi Yabuki is underrated as the challenger to Angel Ayala’s IBF flyweight belt. The Japanese pugilist is a slight underdog per the boxing odds. But we rate him significantly better, especially since he gets a home turf bump in Japan. While Ayala is younger and undefeated, Yabuki has the experience and power edge. Thus, he’s the better boxer here.

Best Prop and Round Betting Picks for Ayala vs Yabuki

  • Yabuki Too Much for Ayala, Lands KO

Masamichi Yabuki moves up in weight following his scintillating victory over Sive Nontshinga. The Japanese brawler has consistently been underestimated at the loss of many boxing predictions. What he lacks in expertise, he makes up for in power. And what he lacks in speed or athleticism, he has grit and heart. That’s why we lean a KO prop bet here.

Sure, being powerful and gritty does not always get the job done. A more technical boxer like Kenshiro Teraji, who keeps rolling as a pound-for-pound stud, can exploit him. But to Yabuki’s credit, he is the last boxer to beat Teraji and he finished him. He can do the same to the less-experienced Ayala.

The champion is younger and faster and has never tasted defeat. But he has also not fought outside of his native Mexico and has rarely faced top-tier competition. He was briefly exposed in a razor-thin decision victory over Felix Alvarado. Many pundits scored that against him.

We’ll rate Yabuki as the same level, if not better than Alvarado. He certainly hits just as hard, which is why our boxing pick is for him to land the KO at +240. All but one of Yabuki’s victories have come by knockout. He’ll either get it or lose a close decision against Ayala.

The key for Yabuki is to quickly close the distance on Ayala. He does his best work from up close. Ayala was getting teed off by Dave Apolinario. While he’s the champion, he’s still green and can get a rude awakening courtesy of Yabuki. Bet on the KO.

Bet on Masamichi Yabuki To Win By KO or TKO (+240)

  • This Fight Will Not Need Judges

Another underrated boxing bet here is to bet on a finish on either side. Yabuki is a hard-hitter but also has a cracked jaw. He’s been finished twice and not exactly by power punchers. Teraji needed just three rounds to stop him in 2022. Seigo Akui also finished him.

As a brawler, Yabuki can leave himself open. Even if Ayala does not hit that hard, one well-placed punch could hurt Yabuki. This is an alternative bet if you’re not sold on Yabuki getting the finish as this covers both sides.

Ayala’s finishes have come via accumulation. He is unlikely to land that one-punch KO on Yabuki. But he can finish him over 12 rounds unless he gets stopped first. Our bet is on the latter. Regardless, this is a boxing fight prediction worth wagering.

Bet on Fight To Go The Distance – No (-120)
