Despite being the lightweight champion, Denys Berinchyk finds himself as the 5/1 underdog this Valentine’s Day. That shows just how hyped Keyshawn Davis is, the challenger. Both boxers are Olympic silver medalists with unbeaten professional records, but Davis is more than a decade younger and is bigger. Still, given the boxing betting odds, our money is on the champion as he could prove too big of a step-up for the cocky young American.

2 Best Betting Picks for Berinchyk vs Davis

1. Take Value With Berinchyk (+500)

Berinchyk pulled off the upset before. Can he do it again? While our boxing pick is with Keyshawn Davis, getting +500 on the champion is too good to pass up. The Ukrainian is highly skilled, hard to get a bead on and has a proven resume. He made Emanuel Navarrete, who was bidding to win a title in a fourth weight class, miss all 12 rounds.

Davis is bigger, faster and stronger than Navarrete but he’s also less honed experience-wise. We won’t knock his track record. The youngster already owns wins over proven veterans like Jose Pedraza and Anthony Yigit. He also starched Gustavo Lemos in just two rounds. He is a force to be reckoned with.

But as we saw in the Masood Abdulah vs Zak Miller bout, which we incorrectly predicted, top-ranked prospects are fallible. Berinchyk is at an age and size disadvantage, but he can outsmart Davis. The Ukrainian fights well on the inside and he’s durable.

If Berinchyk can frustrate Davis and keep him off rhythm, especially early in the fight, he’s got a good shot to take him to a closely contested decision. Of course, Davis still has the edge on points as he has a home crowd advantage.

Betting online on Davis to win on points at -125 is not a bad alternative. Instead, we will be bold and take the dog shot on Berinchyk.

2. Bet Fight to Go Distance

The total for this fight is set at 10.5 and the over is heavily juiced at -300. This is too rich for our blood so we’ll take a slight discount for the fight to last two more rounds at -225. While Davis has power and has finished two of his last three opponents, we doubt he’ll knock Berinchyk out. Our boxing prediction is for this fight to go to a decision.

Berinchyk is an aggressive boxer but he’s not a meathead. Once he feels Davis’s power, he’ll fight more defensively and strategically. Davis also, for all his gusto, will not go out of his way to knock Berinchyk out.

“I feel like once I sit down and start punching him, he’s going to have happy feet and backing up,” Davis told Top Rank Boxing ahead of this WBO lightweight title bout.

The last four fights for the Ukrainian all went the distance, including the one against Navarrete, per Berinchyk vs Davis stats. The Mexican had an 82% knockout rate but did not come close to finishing Berinchyk.

Davis may start this fight strong but Berinchyk will get stronger as the fight goes. And the longer it goes, the likelier it goes to a decision. Bet this boxing prop.
