It’s been a quiet month for high-level championship boxing towards the end of October, and honestly, I think we’re all still thinking about Beterbiev vs. Bivol. Fortunately, the schedule is heating up, and as we finish tricking and treating, it’s fitting how we’ll be firing rockets into the sky next week because the Robson Conceicao vs. O’Shaquie Foster rematch should deliver fireworks.

The first bout provided controversy on the judge’s scorecards, as Conceicao won by decision and picked up the WBC World Super Featherweight strap. However, Texan native Foster, who’s been on a tear over the last decade, will be out for revenge in New York this weekend, and we can only hope the Big Apple officials aren’t as blind as their neighbors in New Jersey were last time out.

As always, I’m back with another big fight breakdown. I promise to keep the Halloween and Bonfire puns at a minimum, but don’t blame meif I give you the best fight analysis and boxing expert picks you can find!

Conceicao vs Foster II Betting Preview

Robson “Nino” Conceicao: A Very Fitting Forename

Well, isn’t this an amusing situation we find ourselves in? We have a Brazilian pugilist in Conceicao who just won the WBC super featherweight back in July. Many critics, fans, and onlookers couldn’t confidently score the fight in his favor. Ironically, his forename is Robson, and sorry, Mr. Foster, you got robbed, son!

Until this point, Conceicao was viewed as a respected in-ring slugger, but he could never quite get past the finish line at a world level. Every championship bout on a world level that he participated in, including clashes with Oscar Valdez and Shakur Stevenson, resulted in lopsided defeats.

Now, as the defending world champion for the first time in his career, Conceicao must face the man he was outclassed by in the summer, and if the judges don’t forget their contact lenses, does he really stand a chance of retaining said title?

O’Shaquie “Ice Water” Foster: Hotter Than the Moniker Suggests

Fans rarely appreciate defensively-minded boxers, and such is the case with O’Shaquie. He’s difficult to hit and a true technician of the game, but much like Shakur Stevensonor Floyd Mayweather, his defensive masterclasses aren’t appreciated.

Those arguing in favor of Conceicao do hold some valid points. The Brazilian was pushing the pace, especially in the latter stages of the fight, which was obviously fresh in the judge’s mind. However, Foster was doing what he does best: winning rounds. Although he lacks the aggression that gets our adrenaline pumping, his elusiveness is something to behold.

Say what you will, but this fan-hated style has kept him from a definitive defeat since 2015. Foster is a championship-level fighter. He isn’t a brawler, and he’s not always going to provide the best highlight reels, but one thing is for certain: he’s hotter than the moniker suggests.

What O’Shaquie Said About the Robbery

Much like many of us who scored the fight, O’Shaquie recognizes he needs to do more so that the judges can’t sway in favor of his foe:

You can always do more, but it’s clear as day who won the fight. I outlanded him in every round. They’re going to find a reason just because the judges made a bad call,” he commented to boxing news outlets.

Conceicao v Foster II: Skillset Analysis

The first fight presented two gun-shy fighters, but onelanded just 11% of their punches, and it wasn’t the victor. So, please, don’t act like Foster wasn’t robbed. Although Conceicao does present a tricky, often defensively-minded style of his own, he severely lacks output, and all the forward movement and “aggression” in the world won’t change that.

I can respect the heavy body shots Conceicao deploys. As a result, this prevents many opponents from entering the phone booth and going to town. However, much like the first fight, Foster doesn’t need to; he needs a little more urgency to ensure the judges he’s the rightful winner.

We have two technical-based fighters who aren’t known for their power shots, but there’s a clear advantage for Foster, whose footwork and ability to land punches, no matter how soft they might be, actually count when scoring rounds.

  • Conceicao has never been knocked out
  • Foster has never been knocked out
  • 5 of Foster’s previous 6 bouts went the distance
  • 5 of Conceicao’s previous 7 bouts went the distance

Conceicao vs Foster II Best Betting Prediction

The reality is that to avoid disappointment, Foster shouldn’t leave Saturday’s title bout in the judge’s hands. Another harsh reality is that he’s a point fighter more than anything, and with only 12 knockout victories from 25 pro bouts, becoming the first man to conquer the iron chin of “Nino” is much easier said than done!

That said, Foster shouldn’t even be fighting Conceicao this weekend. He outlined the Brazilian as25% to 11% in the first fight, and I wouldn’t expect the rematch on Saturday to be any different.

Foster will be conscious of his activity this time around. Instead of continuously flaunting his defensive wizardry, he will land at a slightly higher clip, thus preventing another controversial decision.

The boxing odds know just as well as we do who the greater fighter is. So, making a straight play on the moneyline isan invaluable wagering approach. The good news is that the judges will be involved again if there’s one guarantee from this fight. Therefore, backing Foster to win by decision at -150 is a viable betting approach.

Bet This Pick: Foster by Decision (-150)
