Cross-Sport Parlay: Closing the Show in the U.K.

Boxing, Soccer the Focus of Three-Leg Wager

In the United States, some sports leagues are winding down and approaching the championship stages. The same can be seen across the pond in the United Kingdom. The English Premier League concludes this weekend with Manchester City running away with another title. But there are still plenty of Premier League picks to bet or place in a parlay, as we did with a pair of championship fights in boxing.

Best Bets to Parlay This Weekend

1. Boxing: Okolie (-400) vs Billam-Smith (+300)

  • Total: Over 10½ (+105), Under 10½ (-135)
  • Weight Class (Rounds): WBO World Cruiserweight Title, 200 lbs. (12 Rounds)
  • Day/Time: Saturday, May 27, 5:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream: FITE TV

We head from the pitch to the ring and back old reliable Lawrence Okolie (19-0-0, 14 KOs) as he defends his WBO belt against Chris Billam-Smith (17-1-0, 12 KOs). Okolie’s bouts have left a sour taste in fans’ mouths lately and we can’t blame them. The champ too often boxes like he’s afraid of being hit. Thus, he will use his 7.5-inch reach advantage to keep Billam-Smith at bay.

It may make for boring TV but bettors should feel solid that Okolie is protecting their money as much as he’s defending his chin. Billam-Smith is no slouch and will look to take the fight to Okolie. But he’s just a bit too small for Okolie and does not have the punching power to threaten the heavyweight-sized favorite. The boxing betting lines are right here and we add Okolie on the parlay.

2. Boxing: Lopez (+105) vs Conlan (-135)

  • Total: Over 10½ (-300), Under 10½ (+225)
  • Weight Class (Rounds): IBF World Featherweight Title, 126 lbs. (12 Rounds)
  • Day/Time: Saturday, May 27, 5:00 p.m. ET
  • Stream: ESPN+

While we’re backing one champion, we’re siding with the challenger in this underrated title fight. Michael Conlan (18-1-0, 9 KOs) will not be denied a second time as he hunts Luis Alberto Lopez (27-2-0, 15 KOs) for the world title. Conlan is rightfully favored on the online gambling lines as he’s the better boxer who’s also bigger.

But Lopez is a wily veteran and did just outbox Josh Warrington, the former top featherweight. He will not hand over the belt so easily and will make Conlan work. It’s almost a gimme to bet the total to go over 10½ rounds as this bout will go to the judges.

3. EPL: Leeds United (+175) vs Tottenham Hotspur (+135)

  • Total: Over 3 (-130), Under 3 (+110)
  • Day/Time: Sunday, May 28, 11:30 a.m. ET
  • Stream: CNBC

Harry Kane dominates Premier League news in more ways than one. The unstoppable goal-scorer could be on his way out of Tottenham as the club continues to deteriorate. Still, he can finish strong and possibly even hit the 30-goal mark for the second time in his career. He’s listed at even odds to score at least once in this matchup.

But even if Tottenham is favored, Leeds may want to win this match more. The club needs to win to avoid relegation. As such, expect the Whites to play more desperately and push Tottenham. Leeds scored three goals in their last meeting with Tottenham. The players could go down trying and concede goals when they get careless. As such, bet online on this one to feature more than three goals.

Parlay: Leeds-Tottenham Over 3, Okolie, & Lopez-Conlan Over (+194)
