Morrell Massive Favorite Against Henderson
David Morrell wants David Benavidez. He is not overlooking Kalvin Henderson, even if he is a -3000 favorite per the boxing odds, but the Cuban is already looking at a future bout with his fellow champion. A dominant win for Morrell could book this fight in the near future.
Let’s check the latest Boxing news, stats, injury reports, and Boxing odds for David Morrell vs Kalvin Henderson. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.
Morrell Could Be Division’s Future
Not many fans know of Morrell but that’s likely because he’s only into his seventh professional bout. The Cuban, who now resides in Minnesota, has knocked out all but one of his opponents. He won the WBA super-middleweight belt against Lennox Allen, who was also unbeaten at the time, in only his fourth pro bout.
What Morrell has is an extensive amateur background as most Cubans would have. He went 130-2 and won a pair of golds at the 2016 Youth World Championships and the 2017 Cuban Nationals. Within two years he’d make his professional debut in Minnesota by knocking out his opponent in just over a minute.
In his latest bout, Morrell beat Alantez Fox so badly his corner threw in the towel. A bet online on Morrell rarely pays well but if he gets the unification bout with David Benavidez, he may be had at a more affordable line.
Henderson Overmatched but Also Packs Heat
Looking past a fighter like Henderson would be a big mistake. Even if “Hot Sauce” is a 10-1 underdog, he owns 11 knockouts in his career and his five most recent victories have all come via this method. The sportsbook may be underestimating him a little here.
Henderson is not as technically savvy as Morrell nor is he as potent. But he has more professional experience and has fought against several up-and-comers in the past. He’s also lanky and just as big as Morrell. But as the challenger, the onus is on him to push the champion.
Damned if he does, damned if he didn’t. Henderson has to choose his poison. Should he try to take the fight to Morrell, he could get slept within the early rounds. But if he takes a more defensive approach, he’s also going to get his clock cleaned.

David Morrell vs Kalvin Henderson Prediction
If you’ve got $3,000 laying around, you can invest that in Morrell and get a cool $100 for your stake. The WBA champion could have the best showing this weekend amidst all the other big fights. Alternatively, you can toss him in a parlay with the other large favorites or bet on his prop to KO Henderson at -600.
The best bet here should be the over 4½ rounds at -125. While Morrell makes quick work of most of his opponents, Henderson is durable and experienced enough to survive beyond the fourth round. He should acquit himself well until he succumbs some time in the middle rounds.
