The next big circus fight is coming in fast as Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Logan Paul team up to exploit your curiosity for trainwreck fights at a cool $50. Of course, the boxing odds have Mayweather as a -900 favorite while the comeback on Paul is +550. But wait, there’s more!
This “special exhibition fight” can only be won via a knockout. Yes, Mayweather can’t dip, dodge, and duck his way to a unanimous decision here. Mayweather has to put Paul’s butt or face on the canvas and keep him there until the ref waves it all off.
So in essence, we are not just betting online for Mayweather (or Paul) to win. We are betting on Mayweather (or Paul) to knock the other one out. And they’ve only got eight rounds to do it.
- Date, Time: Sunday, June 6, 8 p.m. ET
- Venue: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, FLA, USA
- Watch on: Showtime Pay-per-view ($49.99)
Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs Logan Paul – Exhibition Match
Weight Class: Openweight (maximum weight of 190 lbs)
Rounds, Time: 8 (3:00)
Method of Victory: KO/TKO only – no judges
Moneyline: Floyd Mayweather Jr. -900, Logan Paul +550
For $50, there better be a damn knock out here. A serious boxing match between Daniel Dubois and Bogdan Dinu will have one on this same card. As far as Mayweather versus Paul is concerned, we will see a beating or the biggest shocker in the history of sports entertainment. A demented side of me is cheering for the latter.
Paul: Shock the World
Logan Paul has nothing to lose here, except maybe a few brain cells. Still, the less obnoxious of the Paul brothers has one thing going for him here: he’s bigger. Much bigger. Paul walks around close to 200 lbs and he’s 6-foot-2 with a 76-inch reach. Compared to Mayweather, he is about four weight classes higher.
But as far as boxing skills go, this is night and day. Paul’s only experience officially is against another Internet celebrity in KSI, who defeated him. He’s going from boxing another amateur to boxing the greatest of his time.
If Paul wants to “shock the world,” he’ll have to find a way to time Mayweather. He’ll need to cut the ring and soften Mayweather’s body in the clinch or however else. Still, there is also the speed disadvantage here and Paul will look like he’s moving in slow-motion to Mayweather. But hey, he’s got a “puncher’s chance.”
Mayweather: Cutting Loose
Floyd Mayweather has nothing to gain, outside of another big payday, and everything to lose. Anything short of a beatdown will be considered a disappointment for Mayweather. He hasn’t boxed in two-and-a-half years.
Asked Floyd Mayweather if he’d fight Jake Paul next once he takes care of Logan Paul Sunday.
“These guys have done a great job fooling the public that they are real fighters..I ain’t got to use my A game, my B game, my C game. I can use my Z game. Don’t even gotta hit him hard.” pic.twitter.com/X8VHHnP6nL

While Mayweather did dust Tenshin Nasukawa easily, that is against a fighter who was 20 pounds lighter than the undefeated champ and was a kickboxer. Punching up against Paul will be a different story and the usually defensive Mayweather may find that fully grown American men are not the same as tiny Japanese fighters.
Ultimately, Mayweather’s speed, precision, and overall better boxing ability are why he should clown Paul. I’m just not sure if he will take him too seriously or even knock him out, but Mayweather should paint the YouTuber’s face red.
Betting Pick
Floyd Mayweather at -900 is more of a “Floyd Mayweather by KO” at -900. That is the only way Mayweather, or Paul, can win the fight. Now the question becomes how Mayweather pulls this off. It can be one of two ways.
The first would be Mayweather beating up Paul and methodically but obviously turning his body into a hamburger patty until the ref jumps in and waves it off. That is a T/KO or referee stoppage win.
The second would be Mayweather separating Paul’s consciousness from his body with a well-placed hook or uppercut when Paul gets too reckless. This is also a good possibility. Either way you put it, Mayweather should be able to dance around, beat up, and embarrass Paul in the squared circle.
