Garcia vs Romero Prediction, Picks and Odds May 2: Bet on Late Stoppage

The king is back. Ryan Garcia returns in a blockbuster main event set right in the middle of Times Square courtesy of Turki Alalshikh. This bout against Rolando Romero will be a spectacle and favors the quick-handed Garcia, steroids or none. Those who bet on boxing can get Garcia at an exorbitant price (-1200). So we look to the boxing props and total for better bets.
Best Prop and Round Betting Picks for Garcia vs Romero
1. Garcia Finishes Romero in Rounds 7-12 (+160)
Love or hate him, you cannot deny Garcia’s talent. He got suspended for juicing against Devin Haney. But steroids do not teach fast hands or boxing ability, which Garcia has over his opponent, hence the lopsided boxing lines. Romero is the perfect foil to Garcia as he is a heavy-handed boxer who loves to talk smack. But he is also not as skilled as Garcia’s best opponents.
“I looked like *bleep* but you got knocked out looking for Easter eggs against Isaac Cruz,” Garcia told Romero. “You didn’t even know where you were after the fight. He beat you that bad.”
Garcia has a point – Romero was finished twice in his last four fights. He also looked terrible against the 40-year-old Ismael Barroso, whom he finished via highly questionable refereeing. Indeed, Romero is the underdog on the boxing odds for a reason.
Romero has a puncher’s chance, but we also question if he can hit Garcia hard enough to finish him early. The longer this fight goes, the more it favors Garcia as he’s more skilled and can win this on points. However, he won’t need judges as Romero is too hittable and will get saved by the referee (or his corner).
Looking at the props, betting Garcia to win in the latter half of the fight is the shrewd boxing pick at plus money. Either this or just bet Garcia to win by KO at -400. We’ll take the former.

Bet on Ryan Garcia to Win in Rounds 7-12 (+160)
2. Bank on Fight Over 6.5 Rounds (-120)
Garcia should beat and finish Romero. The question is when? Our boxing prediction sides with this fight going over 6.5 rounds, so a finish no earlier than Round 7. Romero was finished in Rounds 6 and 8 against Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Cruz, respectively.
On the other hand, five of Garcia’s last six bouts have gone past Round 6 (he finished Fortuna in Round 6), per boxing betting tips. Garcia is quick and hits hard enough to finish his opponents. But bouts between hard-hitters tend to produce knockouts later than expected.
Garcia’s bout with Davis was relatively slow-paced and could have been finished earlier. But both men took their time and measured themselves, albeit to a fault. Something similar could happen here, but with Garcia being on the winning end. This is why our boxing betting pick leans on the over.
