Palmetta has only one loss on his record but faces his toughest test to date.

Let’s check the latest Boxing news, stats, and Boxing lines for James vs Palmetta. We’ve got plenty of Boxing picks for you to consider.

Back After Title Shot

James won the interim WBA welterweight title in 2020 when beating Thomas Dulorme, but he came up just short in a title fight against Radzhad Butaev.

The American, who hails from Minneapolis, was knocked out in the ninth round. However, he was ahead on one judges’ scorecard, so the fight was there for the taking.

Getting over that disappointment won’t be easy, but he has the clear class advantage over Palmetta and that could be evident when they square off.

The -300 favorite with the sportsbook could have been much shorter, so bettors get a value line for James, who returns from a 16-month layoff.

“It’s go time. I’ve been itching for this and I’m extremely happy to be fighting back at home”, James said. The most important thing for me is just ending this layoff and being in the ring period.

“I know that a lot of eyes will be on me coming off my last fight, but I love the pressure and I deal with it great. It makes me a better fighter. Instead of talking too much about it, I’m just going to show you”.

Having experience against the likes of Butaev, Dulorme and Yordenis Ugas gives him the edge against the 18-1 fighter.

Palmetta Rising Sharply in Class

We don’t often rate Argentine fighters against Americans. Palmetta will need to prove that he can hang with a former interim champion.

The 32-year-old is ranked 58th in the world and that’s largely because he hasn’t faced anyone of note. His hardest fight came against Tre’Sean Wiggins, who was 11-4-3.

His most recent win came against an opponent with 13 losses on his record. Prior to that, Palmetta needed a split decision to get the better of a two-star fighter.

It doesn’t bode well for Palmetta, who is ready for an intense fight.

“Ever since I moved to the US, I felt like the underdog all the time”, Palmetta said. “It was the same in the Olympic circuit. But this is the opportunity that I was waiting for, and there is no time for me to think about side A or B. I just to put the trust on my team and my hard work”.

Boxing odds have Palmetta at +225 and he deserves underdog status.
