Both Fights Coming off Losses
Jose Pedraza and Richard Commey are 140-pounders boxing to remain relevant in their shark tank division. Both are coming off losses and this bout could settle which of the two gets to contend. The boxing odds are close here with Pedraza being the better technician while Commey has the punching power. Let’s get to it and bet on boxing odds tonight!
Pedraza Consistently Loses to Stars
Pedraza was once a two-weight world champion but that felt like centuries ago. He’s only lost four times but they have been some of his most notable matches — Gervonta Davis and Vasiliy Lomachenko among them. While he almost beat Jose Ramirez, that loss further cemented his status as a gatekeeper.
Against Commey, Pedraza faces a dangerous puncher who could hand him his second knockout loss. The key for Pedraza is to move and keep Commey from a distance. It may be a tad difficult as Commey’s reach is close to Pedraza’s and he may have a strength advantage.
But Commey is also coming off a brutal beatdown at the hands of Lomachenko. If he’s more gun-shy than usual, Pedraza can operate more smoothly. Pedraza is the better technical boxer of the two and he’s faced higher-level competition more consistently. At these boxing betting odds, it’s worth betting online on the Puerto Rican.
Can Commey Come Back From Beating?
There are knockout losses and there are beat-downs. Commey suffered both. Teofimo Lopez knocked him out in the second round and Lomachenko beat him up so badly that he urged Commey’s corner to stop the fight. Of course, Commey resiliently kept boxing despite getting routed.

Following that loss to Lomachenko, it may be shaky to take Commey on the online sports betting site. Commey will need to be the aggressor in this fight against Pedraza. He can’t afford to be more tentative and to get into a chess match with his opponent.
Commey should cut off the ring from Pedraza, crowd him, and hurt him on the inside. Pedraza does not move as fast as Lomachenko and he is by no means a hard hitter. However, a vulnerable Commey could get cracked more than once.
Pedraza vs Commey Head-to-Head
Pedraza and Commey are both into their 30s with over 30 fights on their resume. Pedraza has a slight reach advantage at 1.5 inches. They are both 3-2 in their last five fights. Four of Pedraza’s last five bouts have also gone to a decision.

Pedraza vs Commey Prediction
We’re going with the fresher boxer in Pedraza here. He put up a better fight against Lomachenko and pushed Ramirez to the limit. He’s savvier technically and is not coming off a beat-down like Commey. We question if Commey still has the fire to keep boxing and if he wants it enough to make another run at a belt.
Pedraza has been a champion and even defended his super featherweight belt twice. It takes a special kind of boxer to outclass Pedraza and Commey isn’t one. Barring a punch that stuns Pedraza, he should be able to dictate the fight and win this on points.
