Heavyweights Go Into Battle
Joy Joyce has yet to suffer defeat in the boxing ring, but he faces a world-class former champion in Joseph Parker.
The New Zealand fighter fought against Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte in his only losses, so he has fought the best in the business.
That’s the challenge facing Joyce, who must rise to the occasion as the -200 favorite with the sportsbook.

Joyce Ready for Stern Test
The level of opposition has stepped up recently for Joyce, who defeated the likes of Daniel Dubois, Carlos Takam, and Christian Hammer.
The 37-year-old British fighter was a late starter to the professional ranks, but despite his age, he’s close to a title chance.
He scored a TKO win over Hammer and a KO victory over Dubois, which was his most impressive to date. Dubois was a highly touted fighter and Joyce was able to land the biggest blow.
It was a close fight prior to the 10th-round victory, so Joyce is not always ahead on points. He has knockout power – 13 of his 14 wins have ended early – so Parker’s chin will be in his sights.
There is worry about Joyce’s lack of speed, but his hands are much more powerful.
“He has good skills and a boxing brain with his footwork so it is going to be a tough test,” Joyce told The Mirror.
“So I am prepared and I am not overlooking him and it is going to be a great fight. But I don’t get paid for overtime. I like to be in exciting fights and give some entertainment and why do 12 rounds, that is long. I would like to just finish him off and I want another KO for my record.”
Boxing odds have Joyce at -200 and that’s typical for an unbeaten fighter.
Parker Needs Combinations
Our biggest gripe with Parker is that he doesn’t throw combinations and he’s too much of a “nice guy.”
The New Zealander is 30-2, so there’s nothing wrong with his record, but he has twice failed to take his opportunities.
He scored a controversial win over Derek Chisora in December, which didn’t excite most boxing fans. It followed a win over fellow Kiwi Junior Fa, who isn’t close to being one of the best heavyweights in the world.
Despite this, many believe the +165 betting online underdog has the speed to win over the judges in a decision victory.
“I’m going to be too fast, I’m going to be too quick. I will have better movement than he does,” Parker said. “Of course, he’s got this jab, and he comes forward, and he has got a good engine. But I’ve prepared for that, I’ve had great sparring partners to prepare for that.”
If Parker can start throwing combinations to the body and head, he could be a force in this division. If he doesn’t, he’ll allow Joyce to find his rhythm and start landing big shots.
