WBA Light Flyweight Title at Stake

Unbeaten Champion Favored

Expectations are high for Hiroto Kyoguchi to retain his WBA super light flyweight title against Esteban Bermudez on Friday night.

However, with the fight being held in Mexico City, the challenger has a big crowd behind him and that could make the difference.

We saw it in the Cordina vs Ogawa fight last weekend, so anything can happen. Boxing betting odds have Kyoguchi at –550, so he’s a warm favorite to improve to 16-0.

Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and boxing odds for Kyoguchi vs Bermudez. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.

Also check on these boxing betting lines.

Kyoguchi Continues Legacy

Japanese boxing has never been stronger and Kyoguchi is a big part of that. The unbeaten star hasn’t any huge fights to date, but he has been scoring convincing victories.

His most recent victory came over Axel Vega in March 2021, which resulted in a fifth-round technical knockout.

There hasn’t been a fight where he looked under significant pressure and that’s why he’s the current -550 favorite at the sportsbook.

Kyoguchi owns 10 knockouts from 15 fights and that’s an excellent record for someone of his stature. The light flyweight stands only 5 feet, 4 inches, so he has good power and he should give Bermudez plenty to think about.

We’re not surprised with the odds. Kyoguchi has the better record and he could extend his unbeaten streak to 16.

Bermudez Fighting to Survive

Despite being the WBA world light flyweight champion, Bermudez has been fighting for survival for most of his career.

The Mexican fighter has a 14-3-2 record after knocking out Carlos Canizales in Mexico City last year. He has had success as the champion, but that hasn’t resulted in an easy life.

“I use the income for my daily expenses,” Bermudez told Izquierdazo.com. “It’s a bit of coaching and masonry, with that complete to the expense. I don’t have my own house, I live with my parents. It’s a pride to have my parents alive, it’s the most important thing.

“But I am happy and content that I am champion and now we are going for the win, I believe in God and I will be champion.”

Fighting in front of a home crowd could be enough for the +375 betting online underdog. He has experience in big fights and he got the better of a 22-0-1 opponent to win the title, so that can’t be overlooked.

However, he doesn’t look as impressive as Kyoguchi, who is a legitimate world champion and has all the tools in his belt.

Kyoguchi vs Bermudez Prediction

There is value with betting on Bermudez at the better price but we’re going with Kyoguchi to win the titles.

Kyoguchi is another one out of the strong Japanese stable, and although fighting in enemy territory isn’t easy, he has a good mental attitude.

Bettors can include the -550 in boxing parlays to increase payouts.
