- Baluta is 2-1-1 in his last four U.K. fights and offers serious value at +400.
- We’re grabbing more longshot value with a draw or technical draw (+1600).
Ionut Baluta has made a habit of giving British boxers a run for their money in their own country. And the best part is, he is typically an underdog –as he is now on the boxing betting lines. Folks who kept betting on him in the U.K. would be up big. Against Peter McGrail, we see another competitive decision, which could go his way.

Baluta (+400) Can Still Do It
Most fans don’t know about Ionut Baluta. But think of him this way: He’s a proficient technician with an iron chin. He’s also got good size for the division and has fought plenty of the best boxers from the U.K. In short, this man is a problem. He’s always a tough out, which is why it’s tough not to find value in his +400 boxing odds.
Of course, Baluta will most likely just win on points (+750). While this is a solid prop, Baluta does have underrated power. Yes, his three KOs in 17 wins are not good visually. But he’s also going against McGrail, whose only loss came via knockout. We’re not saying Baluta does it, but it won’t be shocking if he does.
Baluta is a technical boxer, but he still has enough power to humble his opponents. He took out David Joyce in just three rounds and may force a stoppage if McGrail is not careful. On top of that, Baluta is a late-notice opponent after Shabaz Masoud pulled out.
This means most of McGrail’s camp was spent preparing for another opponent. And we don’t like seeing McGrail, the favorite, already talk about using Baluta as a stepping stone for a bigger bout. This is a red flag. Our money is on Baluta to turn boxing’s Vegas odds upside down yet again.
Ionut Baluta is the definition of a road warrior as the Romanian has built a strong record in the UK when taking on British and Irish fighters ⚔️

Take a Shot on a Draw (+1600)
Betting on draws is usually a sucker bet. That’s like buying a lottery ticket, hoping you win. But hear us out here. We’re talking about a pair of technical boxers who are most likely going to a decision (-400 to bet on, no thanks). Baluta already had a draw in 2023. Meanwhile, McGrail was one card away from having a draw with Rhys Edwards in the Usyk-Fury rematch.
It’s always surprising boxing news if we get a draw. But we can see this bout being so close that each boxer wins five rounds each. There is also a chance of Baluta falling behind but scoring a knockdown to tie the cards, or vice versa.
This may be a crazy boxing prediction today, but we’re not crazy about any other lines. Betting on the fight to go over 8.5 rounds is at -500. Siding with McGrail to win on points is at -200 and even a KO at +300. Oddsmakers made it hard to profit off this bout, so go for the longshot bet as a small fun wager.
Bet on Draw or Technical Draw (+1600)
