Elvis is in the Building
Elvis Rodriguez is the warm favorite to beat Joseph Adorno at The Armory in Minneapolis on Saturday.
The 27-year-old Dominican has been well-backed at -380 with boxing odds, so expectations are high against 17-1-2 Adorno.
Let’s check the latest Boxing news, stats, and Boxing lines for Rodriguez vs Adorno. We’ve got plenty of Boxing picks for you to consider.
Rodriguez on Comeback Trail
It’s never easy to rebound following your first career loss, but Rodriguez has made short work of his two opponents since losing to Kenneth Sims Jr.
He knocked out Juan Pablo Romero in the fifth round before needing seven rounds to dispatch Juan Velasco last year.
He wasn’t beaten by much against Sims, who won by majority decision for the WBC United State lightweight title. Two judges had him losing 78-74, but the other had it a 76-76 draw.
Despite the loss, Rodriguez responded well and he should get another regional title chance at some point in 2023 if he gets past Adorno.
Prior to his last fight, he talked about his world title aspirations.
“March 26 is another step toward my world championship goal,” said Rodriguez, who is trained by Freddie Roach. “Winning means a lot for my career and I hope that a win will put me in contention for a title shot this year. I want to show the world that I’m ready for the big names in the division.”
The sportsbook believes he will win at -380 and he’s the deserving favorite.
No Love for Adorno
There has been little betting support for Adorno, who produced his best performance when knocking out Hugo Roldan last year.
The 23-year-old American was outclassed by Michel Rivera earlier in 2022, but he kept busy and rebounded with three consecutive wins.
It’s rare to see someone have four fights in a year, so we love his courage, and that experience could pay off against Rodriguez.
We worry about the level of opposition. Rodriguez only narrowly scraped by Roldan for the IBF Latino title, but he still showed heart in the win.
Boxing betting markets have him at +280, so he’s not expected to win. He should give Rodriguez a run for his money, and he could score a huge upset if he starts well.
