Five-Belt Title Fight

Boxing odds have boxing sensation Amanda Serrano heavily favored to retain her five world featherweight titles against Heather Hardy.

Boxing odds tonight have Serrano at -2500, which is about as short as it gets, especially for a title fight against a 24-2 fighter.

The sportsbook isn’t giving Hardy much of a chance, but bookmakers could be right in their assessment.

Serrano Sticking With Featherweight

Serrano has lost just twice in her career, including in April last year when fighting Katie Taylor for the world lightweight titles.

She lost a devastating split decision to become the world two-division champion, but she is focused on beating Hardy this week.

As boxing betting markets suggest, Serrano has the class edge as the 44-2-1 fighter, including two solid victories since her loss.

She dropped back to featherweight when beating Sarah Mahfoud by unanimous decision before beating Erika Cruz Hernandez. Her victories weren’t as one-sided as expected, but she did what she needed to.

She signed a contract with the PFL, so her career will take a different path following this fight.

I may be known for boxing, but I’ve always loved and trained in MMA and Jiu-Jitsu, knowing those skills would only add to my ability when going against any opponent,” Serrano said.

The [PFL’s] commitment to gender equality, providing equal opportunities and recognition of female fighters is also a driving force behind my decision.

If Serrano wins the opening rounds, her live betting odds will rocket to around -5000. Bookmakers might even take her off the board, so -2500 doesn’t seem so short.

Hardy Hardly a Challenge

Hardy is the significant online gambling underdog after beating two one-star fighters since losing consecutive fights.

The American just isn’t going to cut it at this level, and despite being ranked #17 in the world, she’s getting a title shot.

She was no match for Serrano in their first meeting, which preceded a loss to Jessica Camara, which was her worst career result.

Hardy can’t be losing to Camara, and that’s why sport betting markets aren’t giving her much chance to score the upset.

She faced Taynna Cardoso – a 5-1 fighter – at Sony Hall in New York in February, and it was a majority decision win. Hardy was close to losing, which would have been embarrassing for the 41-year-old, who is doing no more than picking up her cheque.

Serrano vs Hardy Head-to-Head

The first meeting went to Serrano in 2019. The Puerto Rican won 98-92, 98-91, and 98-91, to score a comprehensive unanimous decision win.
