Evenly-Matched Title Fight
There isn’t much separating Claressa Fields and Savannah Marshall from boxing betting odds markets.
The IBF, WBA, WBC, and WBO middleweight titles are up for grabs at the 02 Arena in London and it’s Marshall who is favored to win at -125.
With home advantage, many believe she can dethrone Shields as the best women boxer on the planet.

Marshall Packs the Power
We’re not surprised by odds for Marshall, who is 12-0 with 10 wins coming by knockout.
She packs a lot more power than Shields, who boasts only two wins by knockout, so the sportsbook is confident Marshall’s power could be enough.
However, the 31-year-old Brit hasn’t faced the same level of opposition as Shields and that’s a mild concern ahead of her biggest fight.
She knocked out Femke Hermans in April with a devastating left hook that sent Hermans to the canvas where the count was waived immediately.
Marshall puts fear into her opponents and many believe she’s the hardest punching female fighter in history.
“She’s got devastating power in both hands. By far the hardest female puncher in history, going back and forward,” trainer Peter Fury told Sky Sports.
“I’ve got somebody who’s six foot, who can make various weights with ease, which is a gift in itself, who’s as bodily strong as some men, with weights, cardio. She’s a gifted athlete. The best of Savannah will be too much for anybody.”
The -125 is a fair price and we see those odds firming closer to fight night.
Shields Needing Defense
There is little doubt Shields needs to fight smart. She will be hounded by Marshall from the outset, so she needs to use her head to win the fight.
Shields scored a unanimous decision victory against Ema Kozin in Cardiff earlier this year and it was a dominant performance. She won 100-90 across the board, so she didn’t lose a round.
Not being able to put away fighters is why she’s the -105 betting online underdog, but she could still win by decision.
Her experience against tougher boxers holds her in good stead. The 27-year-old from Flint, Michigan, got the better of the-then 24-0, Christina Hammer, in 2019 and then 17-0 Marie Eve Dicaire in 2021.
There is some animosity towards Marshall, who defeated Shields as an amateur.
“I just can’t stand a fighter who hasn’t accomplished not even half of what I done and talks the way she does. Coulda, woulda, shoulda but didn’t. So I really don’t have respect for her. I don’t like her personally. As far as business, I’m going to handle my business. Like I always do,” Shields said.
Marshall vs Shields Head-to-Head
It’s the first professional fight between Marshall and Shields, but Marshall won as an amateur.

Marshall vs Shields Prediction
Bettors never know what to expect with unbeaten fighters, but to the naked eye, Marshall is the better bet.
She gives away big-fight experience but she packs power and that could make a significant difference in how Shields approaches this fight.
The favorite also has experience beating Shields at the amateur level, so she has gotten the job done before.
