When you are playing roulette online, or in Las Vegas casinos, you have the choice to play on the ‘inside’ or on the ‘outside’. These areas are the areas of the betting table of a roulette board to place wagers. Be smart and follow our Roulette Tips.
The ‘inside’ refers to the numbers 0, 00, and 1-36. These fields are playable with specific chips issued to each player at a table. The payouts on these are 37-1 for each correct prediction.
The ‘outside’ refers to the area of the Roulette board where players can place bets that typically have better odds of winning yet, smaller payouts. These bets can be placed with standard casino chips.
Types of Wagers & Payout:
Numbers on the Outside:
Numbers bets do not take the color (black or red) into consideration and lose if 0 or 00 is rolled.
Odd or Even – Players bet whether the ball will land on an Odd or an Even number.
1 – 18 – players bet that the ball will land on a number between (or including) 1-18.
19 – 36 – players may bet the ball will land on, or between, 19-36.
Dozen Bets – players may bet on the ball landing in the first 12 (1-12), second 12 (13-24), or third 12 (25-36)
Column Bets – players wager that the ball will land in the corresponding column.
Dozen and Column bets payout 2-1 and Odd/Even, 1-18 and 19-36 payout 1-1.
Colors:
Black or Red – players may bet that the ball will land on either Red or Black (regardless of the state of the number). Any color bet loses if the ball lands on 0 or 00.
Betting on Black or Red pays out 1-1.
These are the basics of outside bets, but it will make the most sense after a few spins. Outside bets are a great way to get started on online roulette because the payouts are easy to calculate and the outcomes are easy to see.
