Spanish Blackjack - Game Guide

In the online casino, Spanish Blackjack’s main difference from Single Deck Blackjack is that the 10s are taken out of the shoe in Spanish Blackjack. There are only 48 cards in the game of Spanish Blackjack. The dealer also has to hit on a soft 17.

Spanish Blackjack - How to Play

The goal of Spanish Blackjack is to reach 21 or get as close to 21 as possible without going over. Since there are no actual 10s in Spanish Blackjack, the face cards make up the 10s. In Spanish Blackjack there are only 12 possible ways to get a natural 10, drawing a Jack, Queen or King. Aces can still count as 1 or 11.

The minimum bet amount in Spanish Blackjack is $1. After making your wager, your first two cards are up while the dealer has an upcard and a downcard. Once you’ve received your two cards, you can Stand or Hit. If you hit, you get another card, and you keep getting cards until you are satisfied with the number you’ve got. Remember that if you bust, if you go over 21, you lose.

If you’re closer to 21 than the dealer, you win. The bonus for hitting a natural 21 in Spanish Blackjack is 3 to 2. As a reminder, you get better odds for hitting a natural 21 in Spanish Blackjack, 3 to 2, than you do in Single Deck Blackjack, 6/5.

Spanish Blackjack is played like a regular game of Blackjack after the draw except the dealer has to hit on a “soft” 17 and there aren’t any 10s.

Spanish Blackjack - Bet Types

There is only one bet per hand in Spanish Blackjack. You can make the minimum bet all the way up to the maximum bet before any cards are dealt.

Spanish Blackjack - Minimum and Maximum Bet Amounts

The minimum bet in the online casino for Spanish Blackjack is $1 per hand.

The maximum bet in the online casino for Spanish Blackjack is $50 per hand.

Spanish Blackjack – Payouts

You win what you bet. If you bet $50 per hand and you win, your profit is $50. If you win with a natural blackjack, you show exactly 21 on your first 2 cards, you win 3/2 in Spanish Blackjack.

Spanish Blackjack - Strategy/Tips

The strategy for Spanish Blackjack is the same as Single Deck Blackjack. The fact that there are no 10s won’t change the strategy much. You should keep it mind, though, since there are only 12 face cards in the deck in Spanish Blackjack. See the strategy below.

Dealer’s upcard is a 5 and you have a Jack (10) and 8 - - Stay

Dealer’s cards is a 9 and you have a Queen (10) and 4 - - Hit

You’re odds in Spanish Blackjack are better that the dealer’s downcard isn’t a face card or an Ace, but it’s difficult to use that to your advantage. In most cases, you’re probably going to want to stick to the basic Blackjack rule, which states that you assume the dealer’s downcard is worth 10, meaning that if the dealer’s upcard is higher than your lowest value card, you hit.
