Colorado vs Marquette Betting Trends, College Hoops Men’s Tourney, 2nd Round

Marquette shook off a difficult first half to top Western Kentucky in the first round and now the Golden Eagles are a win away from their first appearance in the Sweet 16 since 2013. Colorado hasn’t made it to the next round since 1969. The NCAAB odds favor Marquette to punch its ticket into the Sweet 16.

This is the first postseason matchup between the teams.

Colorado vs Marquette Odds and Spreads

  • Six of Colorado’s eight neutral-site games went under the total.

ATS Pick: Marquette -3½ (-110)

Marquette got off to a shaky start in the first round as the Golden Eagles looked to be in danger of another early March Madness before turning it on. Colorado was involved in one of the most entertaining first-round games as the Buffaloes edged Florida 102-100 on a late basket by junior guard KJ Simpson.

The Buffaloes will not shoot 63% from the field again and probably won’t be headed to the foul line as was the case in the Florida game as Marquette should make things a little more challenging.

Marquette has covered in its last 11 games as the favorite. Marquette is 12-4 against the spread over its last 16 games. Look for Marquette to add to those numbers though

Colorado is 10-1 over the last 11 games to play its way into the field of 68.

Colorado is 2-5 against the spread in its last seven games when listed by the Vegas college basketball odds as an underdog.

Guard Julian Hammond, who hasn’t played since a Feb. 17 win over Southern California, is questionable for Colorado while guard RJ Smith is out

Guard Sean Jones is out for the season with Marquette.

Over/Under Pick: Under 147½ (-110)

Colorado did put up 102 points the last time out but that came against a Florida team just inside the top 100 in defensive efficiency according to the Pomeroy college basketball database. Marquette is 18th in defensive efficiency so keep that in mind when looking at the best college basketball bets today.

This feels like a game that will be played at a pace similar to Colorado’s First Four matchup with Boise State rather than the back-and-forth tempo in the Florida matchup.

Nine of Marquette’s last 12 games in March went under the total. Will the Golden Eagles make it 10 out of 13?

Player Prop Pick: Kam Jones to score 17.5 Points (-115)

Jones has 14 straight double-digit scoring games. He doesn’t figure to match the 28 points he scored in the first-round win against Western Kentucky but with six 20-point efforts over the last 10 games, he could be ready for another big game for Marquette against a Colorado team that allowed Florida to hit 11 3-pointers.
