Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and March Madness Odds for Longwood vs Tennessee. We’ve plenty of predictions for you to consider.

Longwood Makes Its March Madness Debut

The Longwood Lancers are in new territory, as they make their first appearance in March Madness after their first conference tournament title. Longwood is playing with a lot of confidence and has nothing to lose going up against the highly-favored Volunteers.

Longwood lost just one game in conference play, with that setback being the only game that the team has lost since Christmas. The Lancers led the Big South in scoring with 76.4 points per game while ranking third in the conference in scoring defense, holding opponents to 65.0 points.

Guard Justin Hill leads a balanced scoring attack with 14.2 points per game while also pacing the team with 4.2 assists per contest. The guard-oriented Lancers also have Isaiah Wilkins (12.8 points, team-high 6.3 rebounds) and DeShaun Wade (11.9 points) scoring in double figures. All three players are averaging better than a steal per game, so the Volunteers will have to be careful with the ball.

Tennessee Looking For Another Tournament Run

The Tennessee Volunteers made their way through the SEC tournament, topping Kentucky and Texas A&M on back-to-back days to win the title. It was the team’s third SEC title game appearance in five seasons, but the first time that the Vols have come away with a victory.

“Very proud of our team,” Tennessee coach Rick Barnes said after Sunday’s win. “They have worked hard. They deserve what they’ve been able to achieve here.”

Freshman guard Kennedy Chandler continued to lead the way in the title game, as he has all season for the Volunteers. Chandler is averaging 13.8 points and 4.5 assists while shooting 37.2 percent from 3-point range.

Speaking of outside shooting, guard Santiago Vescovi has connected on 95 shots from beyond the arc, hitting 39.6 percent of his 3-point attempts. Vescovi is the only other Tennessee player scoring in double figures at 13.4 points per game.

Junior guard Josiah-Jordan James is another dangerous shooter, ranking second on the team with 53 3-pointers. James is averaging 9.9 points and a team-high 5.9 rebounds.

Longwood vs Tennessee Head-to-Head

The Tennessee Volunteers have never faced the Longwood Lancers on the hardcourt, so not only will this be Longwood’s first NCAA Tournament game but also its first game against the SEC school.

Tennessee is considered the best of the No. 3 seeds in the NCAA Tournament. The college basketball lines have the Volunteers as a big favorite in this one, which shouldn’t be a surprise.

Longwood vs Tennessee Prediction

The Tennessee Volunteers should be able to take care of their first-round opponent as long as they are not looking ahead. The Longwood Lancers have played well, but they don’t have a player over 6-8 and played the fourth-easiest schedule of the 68 NCAA Tournament teams.

Tennessee will pull away in this one and win going away. Longwood will come out with a lot of energy, but the Volunteers will wear them down.

When doing your college basketball betting, take favored Tennessee to win and cover.
