Tigers, Hokies Clash in Four Four
The LSU Tigers and Virginia Tech Hokies will meet as teams with different postseason experience when the two clash in the Final Four.
Neither LSU nor Miami could score in their matchup, but the Tigers persevered and were able to pull away a bit in the third quarter to reach the Final Four for the first time since 2008.
The Hokies, meanwhile, earned their way into their first Final Four in program history after a mostly offensive game against Ohio State, outlasting the Buckeyes in the second half.
LSU’s top defense will now meet Virginia Tech’s solid offense in the semifinals. According to women’s college basketball lines, defense should prevail, as the Tigers are a two-point favorite in the matchup.

LSU: Defense Pulls Through Again
The third-seeded LSU Tigers had another game where they couldn’t score, but they pulled off the win due to strong defense.
Neither LSU or Miami could hit a 3-pointer all game, with the Tigers sinking the only one of the game minutes into the fourth quarter. The Tigers held the Hurricanes to 31.6% shooting after finishing 30.2% from the field themselves.
LSU also got 18 points off of 18 Miami turnovers, but the difference was its ability to keep the Hurricanes off the free-throw line for the majority of the game.
The Tigers were up 11 points through three quarters, and while LSU was 12 of 20 from the charity stripe at that point, Miami was 1 of 2 from the line. The Hurricanes finished the game 6 of 9 at the free throw line while the Tigers were 15 of 26.
LSU’s defense will continue to be critical for its success as its offense remains stagnant.
According to NCAA Women’s basketball odds, the Tigers have +600 odds to win Women’s March Madness.
Virginia Tech: Offense Gets It Done
Both Virginia Tech’s and Ohio State’s offenses were clicking in the first half to make it a tight game, but the No. 1-seeded Hokies withstood the Buckeyes to earn the victory.
Ohio State was hot in the first two quarters, shooting 63.6%, but Virginia Tech was shooting just as well at 55.8% to keep up and take a three-point halftime lead.
Both teams’ shooting dropped in the second half, but the Hokies were able to stay solid behind Georgia Amoore and Elizabeth Kitley, who combined for 31 of the Hokies’ 36 second-half points.
