There has been at least one No. 1 seed in the Final Four every year since 2011. Kansas was the last No. 1 seed eliminated that year falling to a double-digit seed Virginia Commonwealth in the regional final. The last double-digit seed to advance to the Final Four was Loyola Chicago in 2018 and ironically that run began with an upset of Miami which is now attempting to fill the role of the teams beating the March Madness odds by reaching the national semifinals.
Miami has at least 10 steals in each game in the March Madness bracket and the Hurricanes will try to disrupt the Kansas offense as it has done against Southern California, Auburn and Iowa State.
Eight of Miami’s last 15 games have been decided by four points or less while Kansas has played just four such games since the start of February so if this comes down to the final few possessions, the Hurricanes might have the edge.
Kansas (+275) has the best odds to win the national championship while only Saint Peter’s is behind Miami (+1800) in the odds to win the national title.
Let’s check the latest news, stats, injury reports, and March Madness Odds for Miami vs Kansas. We have plenty of predictions for you to consider.
Hurricanes Storm to First Elite Eight Appearance
Thanks to Saint Peter’s becoming the first 15 seed to advance to the Elite Eight, the remarkable turnaround at Miami has flown a bit under the radar.
Ten teams were picked to finish ahead of Miami in the Atlantic Coast Conference and now the Hurricanes are among the last eight teams standings in the national title chase after their 70-56 win over Iowa State.
There’s sweet… and then there’s 𝐄𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐄.

After a dismantling of No. 2 seed in Auburn to advance to the regionals for the fourth time in program history, Miami faced Iowa State in the first matchup of double-digit seeds since 2016.
It took an 11-2 run in the second half for the Hurricanes to take control. Sam Waardenburg had five points during that run as the Hurricanes built up a 14-point lead with less than three minutes to go. The Miami defense forced Iowa State to commit three turnovers and miss nine of 10 shots to generate some breathing room.
Kameron McGusty led the way with 27 points and four steals. He is averaging 19.7 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals in three NCAA tournament games as Miami defied the March Madness predictions by reaching the Elite Eight for the first time in program history. Jordan Miller had 16 points and Waardenburg 13 as Miami’s starters accounted for all the scoring.
Miami has covered against the Las Vegas odds in six of its last seven games.
Kansas Lone Remaining Top Seed in March Madness bracket
Top seeds felt like an endangered species during the NCAA tournament. Defending national champion Baylor was the first to be eliminated and then pre-tournament favorite Gonzaga and Pac-12 champion Arizona fell on the same night.
When Providence rallied from 13 points down in the second half to take a one-point lead on a Noah Horchler layup with 5:52 to play, Kansas was on the verge of being the final No. 1 seed to be sent packing.
Kansas responded by scoring the next seven points. While Providence got within four points on multiple occasions the rest of the way, Remy Martin hit five free throws in the final 43 seconds as the top-seeded Jayhawks held on for the 66-61 and a trip to the Midwest Regional final.
Martin, a highly-touted transfer who had his first season at Kansas disrupted by injury, had his second straight 20-point game with 23 points to help Kansas advance despite a season-low five points from Big 12 Player of the Year Ochai Agbaji. Agbaji was only 2 of 8 from the field although he did have a key basket late for the Jayhawks.
Kansas is 7-2 against the college basketball spreads in its last nine games.
Miami vs. Kansas Head-to-Head
Kansas has won three of the previous four meetings with Miami although the results won’t be of much help to those who bet online since the most recent meeting came in 1991.
Kansas won by an average of 25 points in 1987, 1990 and 1991 while Miami upset the Jayhawks 87-86 on January 12, 1989, in one of the signature wins as Miami restarted its program that was shut down for 13 seasons.
The Jayhawks have won four of the last five meetings with a No. 10 seed although the loss came in 2014 to Stanford. Kansas has failed to cover in each of its last three games against a 10th-seeded squad with all three of those games going under the total.

Miami vs Kansas Prediction
One of the biggest questions is whether Miami can hang with Kansas in the rebounding department. The Jayhawks are outrebounding their opponents by an average of 11 per game in the NCAA tournament and have at least 10 offensive rebounds in each game. The Hurricanes are -28 in rebounds and -23 in offensive rebounds in the tournament.
Miami relies on its starting five for the majority of its scoring as the Hurricanes have been outscored 74-11 in bench points in three tournament games. Kansas is getting 19.3 points off the bench from Remy Martin in the tournament.
It has been a great run for Miami and while the Hurricanes have displayed the ability to rise up to the level of the competition throughout the season, it might be asking a little too much for them to punch a ticket to their first Final Four.
