These two squads are no strangers, having locked horns four times previously in the Scott Rueck era. And let me tell you, it’s been an absolute dogfight each meeting, with the last three decided by 12 points or less. We’re talking pure, high-intensity basketball whenever these programs collide.

Both programs have been model’s of consistency too, with Notre Dame dancing in 13 of the last 14 Big Dances, and Oregon State making its fifth Sweet 16 appearance in recent memory. These are two battle-tested outfits accustomed to the bright lights.

Oregon State vs Notre Dame Sweet 16 Odds

Are The Oregon St. Beavers A Good Bet To Upset The Fighting Irish?

Oregon State (+125) has been making some serious noise in the Big Dance! This battle-tested bunch has fought its way through the gauntlet of the powerhouse Pac-12, emerging as one of a nation-leading five teams from that conference to reach the Sweet Sixteen.

The Beavers haven’t just been scraping by either. They’re a well-oiled machine led by the unstoppable Raegan Beers, a 6’4″ force of nature averaging a double-double with 17.5 points and 10.2 boards per game. This sophomore dynamo is shooting a ridiculous 66% from the field and has been virtually unguardable in the paint.

But Beers isn’t doing it alone – not by a longshot. The Beavers boast incredible depth and balance, with five other players averaging between 4.8 and 11.4 points per contest. Timea Gardiner has provided a huge outside spark, while playmakers like Talia von Oelhoffen and Donovyn Hunter keep this offense humming.

And let’s not overlook the defensive prowess of Scott Rueck’s squad either. The Beavers are absolutely stifling opponents, ranking in the top 10 nationally in two-point defense and top 30 in three-point D. They may not force a ton of turnovers, but good luck finding quality looks against this swarming unit.

Simply put, Oregon State has all the ingredients of a true Cinderella contender in this tournament. Between the elite talent, tremendous balance, and that unbreakable competitive spirit, the Beavers are more than capable of crashing the party in a big way.

How Good Are Notre Dame’s Odds To Beat Oregon State?

Coming off an absolute masterclass against Ole Miss with a 71-56 win, Notre Dame (-165) looks poised to serve another stumping, this time to Oregon State on Friday.

From the opening tip, ND was all about dominating Ole Miss. Maddy Westbeld, Hannah Hidalgo, and Sonia Citron led the onslaught, pouring in 20, 19, and 17 points respectively to put the Rebels on skates. The Irish bolted to a blistering 21-9 lead after the first quarter behind their swarming defensive pressure.

The Rebels coughed up a whopping 22 turnovers as Notre Dame’s defense suffocated them into a ghastly 39% shooting night from the field. It was pure, unrelenting harassment from the opening whistle.

But the true beauty was in Notre Dame’s stupefying pace and ball movement on offense. The Irish moved the rock crisply, attacked in transition, and simply overwhelmed their opponents with elite skill and physicality. By the time the final buzzer sounded, it was complete and utter domination.

Make no mistake, though – this Irish squad is just getting revved up. With the Sweet 16 on deck against the Beavers, you can bet Niele Ivey‘s troops will be locked in from the jump yet again. After this tour de force performance, they’ll be bringing every ounce of momentum into their biggest test yet.

When they finally meet in Albany on Friday, you can bet the atmosphere is going to be electric. Two elite teams, one massive opportunity to keep their title dreams alive. It’s win-or-go-home basketball at its finest.

The initial betting trends point to an absolute barnburner too with the Fighting Irish coming in as slight favorites at -165. With these programs knowing each other intimately after so many recent clashes, expect a tightly-contested, punch-counterpunch affair from start to finish as they leave it all on the hardwood.
