No. 15 Seed Goes After Seventh Win in Row
Creighton Again in Regionals
This is just how they drew it up with the 15th-seeded Princeton Tigers meeting up with a sixth-seeded Creighton team that lost by 22 points in the Big East tourney semifinals.
This could be a methodical game with both teams averaging fewer than 60 field goal attempts per game. Princeton is last among the Sweet 16 teams in expected offensive efficiency and only Miami is behind the Tigers in defensive efficiency according to the Pomeroy college basketball ratings database.

This is the only game in the Sweet 16 when the college basketball odds has a double-digit point spread. Princeton is the longest of long shots to reach the Elite Eight.
When looking at the college basketball news, freshman forward Mason Miller is questionable with a leg injury for Creighton. Five of the top six scorers for the Bluejays have appeared in all 35 games this season.
For Princeton, freshman guard Deven Austin hasn’t played since a Feb. 11 loss to Dartmouth.
This is the only one of the eight regional semifinals when neither team is ranked in the top 25 in the Associated Press poll. Creighton does come in at No. 22 in the coaches’ poll.
According to the odds to win March Madness, Creighton (+1000) is sixth in the odds to win the national championship. Princeton is well back at +15000 in the championship odds.
Tigers Ready to Roar
There was no question posed to a star of the losing team like the time that Yale outrebounded Baylor in the March Madness game. However, like that 2016 upset by Yale, fellow Ivy League power Princeton used a strong effort in the rebounding department to eliminate a second straight team out of a Power-5 conference.
Princeton outrebounded Missouri 44-30 and held the 16-8 advantage in offensive boards. Freshman Caden Pierce led the way with seven of his 16 rebounds coming on the offensive end.
Pierce has 24 rebounds in the wins over Pac-12 tournament champion Arizona and Missouri.
Princeton has held the rebounding advantage in each of its last four games as the Tigers topped Penn and Yale to secure a spot in the NCAA Tournament before becoming the latest double-digit seed to reach the regionals.

Blue Jays Soaring At the Foul Lin
Here is a piece of advice for Princeton: Think twice before sending Creighton to the foul line.
In two NCAA Tournament games, the Bluejays are 39 of 41 from the free throw line. It started with Creighton making 17 of 19 from the charity stripe in a nine-point win over North Carolina State. Facing third-seeded Baylor, Ryan Nembard was 10 for 10 from the line as Creighton made all 22 of its foul shots.
The Bluejays matched the Division I men’s tournament record of 22 straight foul shots without a miss in a game, a mark first set by Fordham against South Carolina in 1971.
Creighton finished second in the Big East in free throw shooting, making 78% of its shots from the foul line.
