Arizona (+600) has the second-best odds to win the national championship.

Holden has Wright Stuff in NCAA Opener

There’s nothing like upstaging the nation’s leading scorer in your first NCAA Tournament game.

Wright State junior Tanner Holden had 37 points, one off his season high, to lead the Raiders past Northeast Conference champion Bryant in a First Four game on Wednesday night.

Holden was 11 of 15 from the field and 14 of 16 from the foul line as Wright State pulled away for the 93-82 win. The victory set up a matchup with Arizona, the No. 1 seed in the South Region, in Friday’s first round.

The March Madness odds aren’t in favor of No. 16 seed Wright State, but Holden and the rest of the Horizon League champions will be in San Diego looking for the upset.

“I think we’re all confident and we’re going there to win,” Holden told the media after the game. “We’re not just going there for the experience of March Madness.”

Bryant’s Peter Kiss came into Wednesday’s game averaging 25.1 points. He finished with 28 points but was just 11 of 25 from the field.

Wright State has won six games in a row and covered against the Las Vegas odds in the last four.

Arizona Floor Leader Kriisa Vows he will Play

When Kerr Kriisa tumbled to the court with a scary-looking ankle injury in the Pac-12 quarterfinals, Arizona’s leader in assists and 3-pointers feared that his season was over.

However, Kriisa vowed to be ready for Arizona’s NCAA opener on Friday.

“Not easy but doing everything I can to get back on the court with my brothers!” Kriisa tweeted.

Kriisa missed wins over Colorado and UCLA as Arizona won the Pac-12 tournament for the first time since 2018. Justin Kier had 17 points and five assists in the two games that Kriisa missed.

It will be interesting to see if Arizona gives Kriisa the chance to play on Friday or opts for more rest as he continues to recover.

Each of Arizona’s last six games finished over the college basketball spread total.

Wright State vs Arizona Head-to-Head

Arizona won the previous meeting with Wright State 83-66 on November 18, 2004 as a 23-point favorite.

The March Madness predictions are expecting an extended stay in the tournament for the Wildcats The most recent matchup against a team seeded 16th was a 68-59 win over Weber State in 2014 as a 20-point favorite. Wright State vs Arizona Betting Lines

Wright State vs Arizona Prediction

Wright State eliminated a Bryant team featuring the nation’s leading scorer. Arizona poses a different challenge as the Wildcats are first nationally in assists per game and third in scoring offense.

Wright State went to the foul line 32 times in the NCAA play-in game, but that is highly unlikely to happen against the Pac-12 champions

Arizona is 1-4-1 in its last six games when favored by at least 20 points. It will be interesting to see if the line changes based on the playing status of guard Kriisa, who missed the last two games due to an ankle injury.
