Peek at the Week Includes Several Grudge Matches
A Monday night intrastate affair between Virginia and Virginia Tech is a good way to get the ACC week rolling.
Meanwhile, conference co-leaders Duke and Notre Dame are a combined 24-3 at home. The Blue Devils and Fighting Irish look to continue their home-court success opposing Wake Forest and Boston College, respectively.

Duke (+250) is tied for the sixth-lowest odds to reach the Final Four. Notre Dame and Miami are next at +3000.

Wake Forest Demon Deacons at Duke Blue Devils

Duke has won seven of its last eight games, and is currently tied with Notre Dame for first in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings. The Blue Devils are 5-3 over the last eight games against the NCAA spreads.
Duke and Wake Forest rank first and second in the ACC in field-goal percentage as well as field-goal percentage defense. This game also features two of the top scorers in the conference. Wake Forest’s Alondes Williams leads the ACC with an average of 19.9 points per game, while Duke’s Paolo Banchero is sixth (17 ppg).
No. 7 Duke (21-4, 11-3 ACC) has won 14 of the last 15 games against Wake Forest. The last four wins over the Demon Deacons (20-6, 10-5) by a combined 78 points, including a 76-64 decision Jan, 12th when Banchero and fellow freshman Adrian Griffin went for 46 points combined. It didn’t hurt that Duke only turned the ball over seven times, while Wake Forest missed 14 of its 16 3-point attempts.
Wake Forest hasn’t won at Cameron Indoor Stadium since 1997, with just three of the last 22 games-all wins by Duke-decided by less than 10 points.
Wake Forest has won seven of its last nine games, but is coming off a home loss to Miami that kept the Deacons a half-game out of first place in the ACC.
Each of Wake Forest’s last three games has gone under the total. The Demon Deacons are 4-2 in games decided by less than five points.
Here’s a breakdown of the rest of the ACC-with the exception of Syracuse, idle until Saturday-heading into games over the next couple of days, along with some trends to aid those who bet online.
Boston College Eagles
Boston College is looking to beat Notre Dame for the third consecutive time, something that hasn’t happened since 1996-1997.
The Eagles have covered against the college basketball spreads in each of the last three home games against Notre Dame.
Boston College (9-14, 4-9) has lost five of its last six games, held under 70 points in each of their last eight.
Four of Boston College’s last five games have finished under the total.
Boston College is last in the ACC in field-goal percentage as the Eagles are connecting on just 41% of their shots.
Clemson Tigers
Clemson heads into Tuesday’s game at Florida State having won three of its last four games against the Seminoles, covered in all three victories. The lone loss came in Clemson’s last trip to Tallahassee.
Six of the series’ last seven contests-including the last four–have finished over the total. The Tigers are 2-6 on the road this season.
Clemson (12-13, 4-10) has lost its last four games, going 0-3-1 against the spread in those contests. The Tigers have lost their last four road games, while each of the Tigers’ last three games went over the total.
Fourth-leading scorer Hunter Tyson has missed Clemson’s last four games. Tyson isn’t expected back during the regular season.

Florida State Seminoles
Florida State has won the last six times hosting Clemson, the average margin of victory being 15 points.
The Seminoles need to win to avoid being swept in the regular-season series for the first time since 2009-10.
The Seminoles, one of the teams expected the challenge Duke in the ACC, have dropped four games in a row, failing to cover against the Las Vegas odds in each of them.
Florida State (13-11, 6-8) has lost three consecutive home games.
As if playing without leading rebounder and third-leading scorer Malik Osborne wasn’t challenging, Anthony Polite has missed the Noles’ last three games. After surgery, he could be out a few weeks.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
Georgia Tech has won the last four meetings against North Carolina State. covering against the college basketball spreads in each of those matchups.
The last five games in the Jacket-Wolfpack series has been decided by six points or less, including four straight one-possession contests.
Georgia Tech (10-14, 3-10) has lost four of its last five games, failing to cover in each of the defeats.
Georgia Tech has been listed as an underdog in each of its last six games.
Michael Devoe is the third-leading scorer in the ACC, averaging 18.6 points per game.
Louisville Cardinals
Louisville has won its last five home games against Miami, by 17 and 16 points, respectively, the last two games.
Something of interest to those who bet online ahead of Wednesday night’s game, six of the last seven games in the series have gone over the total..
Louisville (11-13, 5-9) has lost six games in a row, although the Cardinals barely cover in the last outing. They lost, 63-57, at Notre Dame as a 6½-point underdog. Louisville is just 7-6 at home.
Six of Louisville’s last nine games have gone under the total.
Malik Williams returned to the court for the first time since Jan. 29th, but missed both of his field-goal attempts (six minutes, no points, one rebound) in a loss to Notre Dame Feb. 9th.
Miami Hurricanes
Miami snapped a three-game losing streak to Louisville with a six-point win as a 4½-point home ‘dog in the last meeting. If the Hurricanes win Wednesday evening’s rematch, it would mark the first Miami won back-to-back games against the Cardinals since both have been in the ACC.
Miami (18-7, 10-4) is in the midst of a ‘win two games, lose two games, win two games’ roller coaster. Wins over Georgia Tech and Wake Forest moved Miami a game in back of Duke and Notre Dame in the ACC standings.
Charlie Moore leads the ACC with an average of 2.1 steals per game, while teammate Jordan Miller is tied for third with 1.75 spg.
North Carolina Tar Heels
North Carolina has won seven of the last nine games against Pittsburgh, covering in six of the nine.
Just one of the last six games between North Carolina and Pittsburgh have been decided by less than 10 points, while three of the last four went under the total.
North Carolina (18-7, 10-4) has won six of its last seven games, moving into a tie for third in the conference, just a game behind Duke and Notre Dame. The Tar Heels are 4-2-1 against the spread in those games.
Armando Bacot, leading rebounder in the ACC (12,2 rpg), grabbed at least 10 boards in 16 of his last 17 games.
North Carolina State Wolfpack
Heading into Tuesday night’s game, North Carolina State’s last win at Georgia Tech was back in 2017, 71-69 as 2½-point underdogs.
Four straight games between North Carolina State and Georgia Tech went over the total from 2014-17, but each of the last five matchups alternated between over and under the total.
North Carolina State (10-16, 3-12) has lost six games in a row to fall into last place in the ACC standings. Each of those last six games went under the total.
Freshman Terquavion Smith leads the ACC with 73 3-pointers, with at least two 3’s in six of his last seven games.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Notre Dame has won 10 of the last 11 home games against Boston College, four of those games decided by three points or less.
Notre Dame (18-7, 11-3) has won four games in a row, covering in three of them. The Fighting Irish bring an eight-game home winning streak into Wednesday’s showdown with the Eagles, moving into a tie with Duke atop the ACC standings.
Four of the Fighting Irish’s last five games have finished under the total.
Paul Atkinson, ACC leader in field-goal percentage, has made at least half his shots in 11 of his last 12 games.
Pittsburgh Panthers
The Panthers won the last game it played at Carolina, and a victory Wednesday would mark the first time since joining the ACC that Pitt procured consecutive games in Chapel Hill.
Pittsburgh (10-16, 5-10) has won its last two games-covering in both as underdogs-after dropping its previous four contests. Five of Pittsburgh’s last eight games went under the total.
Jamarius Burton is fourth-‘hardest worker’ in the conference, as he’s on the court for nearly 35 minutes per game.
Virginia Cavaliers
Virginia has won five of the last six games with Virginia Tech in advance of Monday’s meeting in Blacksburg.
Virginia had won three straight road games in the series before a 14-point loss (as five-point favorites) in 2021.
Virginia (16-9, 10-5) has won its last four games, including a stunner at Duke, covered in each of them.
Four of the last five Virginia games have gone over the total.
Reece Beekman leads the ACC in assist/turnover ratio with 133 assists and only 33 turnovers.
Virginia Tech Hokies
The Hokies been underdog in the last 21 meetings with Virginia, going 12-8-1 against the spread in those games.
Virginia Tech (15-10, 7-7) has won five games in a row, covering in four.
Six straight Virginia Tech contests went over the total before the last two went under the total.
