There are a few months left in Mike Krzyzewski’s record-breaking run at the helm of the Duke men’s basketball team.
Krzyzewski has won a record 15 ACC tournament titles. During his tenure, the Blue Devils have the most weeks spent at No. 1, in the Top 10 and Top 25 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. His 97 NCAA tournament wins, 15 seasons with at least 30 wins, and 42 players selected in the first round of the NBA draft are also records for a men’s collegiate coach.

More special moments could be coming in the final few months that Krzyzewski is on the sidelines at Duke The Blue Devils have covered in its last three games and is one of the top contenders to win the 2022 national title.
Here’s a look at the most memorable wins since Krzyzewski took over the Duke program in 1980.
Nov. 29, 1980: Duke led by two points at halftime against Stetson. sophomore Tom Emma had 19 points as Duke won 67-49 for Krzyzewski’s first win at Duke.
March 10, 1984: Duke topped North Carolina 77-75 for his first win over a No. 1-ranked team and first trip to the ACC tournament title game.
March 15, 1985: Duke defeated Pepperdine 75-62 as David Henderson scored 22 points and Johnny Dawkins 21 as Krzyweski recorded his first NCAA tournament win at Duke.
February 26, 1986: Duke defeated Clemson 77-69 to set a school record with its 28th win of the season and it was the first time Duke played as the No. 1 team in the country
March 2, 1986: Duke defeated North Carolina 82-74 UNC to win the first ACC regular-season title since 1966. Seven days later, Duke defeated Georgia Tech for the first ACC tournament title.
March 26, 1986: Duke defeated Kansas 71-67 to advance to the first national title game. Blue Devils became for Division I men’s program to win 37 games in a season.
March 24, 1990: Christian Laettner buzzer-beating shot to beat UConn 79-78. The win clinched a third straight Final Four appearance.
March 30, 1991: Duke was listed by the Las Vegas odds as the 9½-point underdogs against defending national champion UNLV. Duke won 79-77 to reach its fifth NCAA title game. Two days later Duke beats Kansas 72=65 for the first national title. Duke was a three-point favorite against Kansas.
March 28, 1992: Christian Laettner hits a buzzer-beater in 104-103 win over Kentucky to clinch Blue Devils’ fifth straight trip to Final Four.
April 6, 1992: Duke rolls to 71-51 win against Michigan’s “Fab Five” to repeat as national champions. Duke entered the game as 5½-point favorites according to the college basketball spreads. Blue Devils became the first team since Indiana in 1976 to go coast-to-coast as the No. 1 team in Associated Press Top 25 poll.
Feb. 2, 1999: Duke defeated rival North Carolina 81-61 to become the first men’s team to go 16-0 in ACC. It was Duke’s school-record 24th straight win and first undefeated in the ACC for the first time since 1963.
June 30, 1999: Elton Brand, Trajan Langdon, Corey Maggette, William Avery were all taken in the first round of the NBA draft to become the first program to accomplish that. Brand became the first player under Coach K to go first overall.
November 17, 2000: Duke defeated Villanova 98-85 for Krzyzewski’s 500th win with the Blue Devils. Duke unveils Coach K Court after the game.
February 2, 2001: Blue Devils defeat Arizona 82-72 to win the program’s third NCAA title.
December 12, 2004: Duke’s 82-54 win over Toledo made Krzyzewski the second-fastest men’s Division I coach to win 700 games trailing only his mentor Bobby Knight.
March 20, 2005: The 63-55 win over Mississippi State moves Krzyzewski pasts Dean Smith to become the all-time winningest coach in the NCAA tournament.
February 13, 2010: Blue Devils defeat Maryland 77-56 in Krzyzewski’s 1000th game at Duke,
April 5, 2010: Duke edged Butler 61-59 for its fourth NCAA title. Duke entered the game favored by seven points according to the college basketball odds.
December 29, 2010: The 108-62 win over UNC Greensboro moves Krzyzewski past Dean Smith and into second place on the NCAA’s all-time victories list with win No. 880.
November 15, 2011: Duke defeats Michigan State 74-69 at Madison Square Garden for record 903rd career win. Seth Curry finished with 20 points, seven rebounds, four assists, four steals.
January 25, 2015: Krzyzewski became the first Division I men’s basketball coach to win 1,000 career games as Duke beats St. John’s 77-68 at Madison Square Garden.
February 4, 2015: Duke defeated Georgia Tech 72-66 as Krzyzewski passes Dean Smith as the winningest coach in ACC play.
April 6, 2015: Duke defeated Wisconsin 68-63 for its fifth NCAA title. Tyus Jones led the way with 23 points. An interesting note for those who bet online, it was the sixth time in the last eight Final Four games that Duke covered.
February 20, 2016: Krzyzewski coached in his record 1,355th game to pass Mount St. Mary’s Jim Phelan for most games coached by a men’s coach.
November 11, 2017: Duke defeated Utah Valley 99-69 to become the first Division I men’s coach to win 1,000 at one school.
February 8, 2020: Duke rallied from a 13-point deficit in the final four minutes. Wendell Moore’s tip-in at the buzzer in 98-96 win over North Carolina.
June 2, 2021: Krzyzewski announces this will be his last season.
