Games to Bet in the SEC This Week
The SEC has three ranked teams and several others with impressive records. We preview three Saturday showdowns that are worthy of wagering on and will help with our NCAA basketball predictions moving forward.
No. 8 Auburn (16-3 SU, 12-5-2 ATS) vs Mississippi State (13-6 SU, 9-9-1 ATS)
- Date/Time: Saturday, January 27, 2024, 3:30 p.m. ET

Auburn dribbled into Tuscaloosa on Wednesday night as 4-point road dogs, according to many of the major online sports betting sites like BetUS, and staggered out with its third loss, a 79-75 setback to the Crimson Tide. The Tigers are now 5-1 in conference play and 16-3 overall as they look to get back on track against Mississippi State on Saturday.
Speaking of Mississippi State, the Bulldogs recently dropped their third game in their last four outings as they bowed to SEC rival, Florida, 79-70, and failed to cover as 3½-point road underdogs.
The Dawgs have lost five straight to the Tigers and have covered in just two of those five contests including last year’s 69-63 defeat as 7½ point underdogs according to the prevailing college basketball odds.
No. 5 Tennessee (14-4 SU, 8-9-1 ATS) Vanderbilt (5-13 SU, 7-10-1 ATS)
- Date/Time: Saturday, January 27, 2024, 6 p.m. ET

The Volunteers punctuated their climb to No. 5 in the nation with what was their most important win of the season last Saturday, a 91-71 victory over Alabama. It was their 10th win in their last 11 games but this one was a shot across the bow to all of its conference rivals.
The lowly Commodores have lost five consecutive games with their most recent occurring last Saturday when they found themselves on the wrong end of a 68-55 decision to Mississippi State in which they pushed as 13-point road underdogs.
In your NCAAB picks today and this weekend, keep in mind that teams coming off a big win and pitted against a weak team the following game often have a letdown which is why they call it a trap game. Tennessee’s dominating performance against conference rival Alabama last week coupled with them playing a vastly inferior Vanderbilt squad on the road could qualify as just such a situation. Therefore, think about taking the points with the home hound here.
No. 6 Kentucky (14-4 SU, 11-7 ATS) vs Arkansas (10-9 SU, 5-14 ATS)
- Date/Time: Saturday, January 27, 2024, 6 p.m. ET
- Kentucky vs Arkansas Live Stream: TBS.com
If your college basketball predictions included Kentucky -5 on Tuesday night against South Carolina then your wallet was a bit lighter after that contest. The No. 6 team in the nation found itself on its heels from the opening tip. The Wildcats were outscored by eight points in the first half and nine points in the second, leading to a 79-62 upset at the hands of the Gamecocks.
The Razorbacks have not only been struggling as of late, dropping 5 of their last 6 contests but have also been money-burners at the betting windows, failing to cover in all five of those losses. The only exception over that stretch was a 78-77 victory over Texas A&M as two-point home dogs.
